This test event is being organised by The London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), working with a range of partners including Transport for London, to ensure the Games next year are a success for London and the world.

There will be impact on local traffic in South West London, Surrey and on access to Heathrow and the M25.  Vehicles will not be allowed to drive on, park on or cross the race route. If people are planning to watch the race it will be possible to walk across the route at marshalled points. Residential access will be permitted where possible.

It will be an exciting spectacle, but transport in these areas and access to Heathrow and the M25 will be severely affected on the day.  Most affected roads that form part of the route will be closed from very early in the morning until mid-afternoon, and some additional parking controls will be place on and near the race route. Roads adjoining the closed route will have restricted access for local residents and businesses.

LOCOG, Transport for London (TfL), the London Boroughs, Surrey County Council, The Royal Parks and the Emergency Services have been working closely together to deliver a comprehensive communications and marketing campaign to promote this event and its impact on movements on the day. This campaign includes media briefings and traffic alerts; direct mail to residents, community newsletters and drop in events; advertising on London Underground, Train Stations, Buses and Bus Routes; direct CRM activity to the Oyster card database and LOCOG database; direct engagement with hospitals, churches and other major businesses on route; highways and road information including advance warning signs and variable messaging signs on motorways.

The leaflet attached to this email include information about the race, lists of road closures, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s parking information, road closure maps and a Traffic impact area map of the race. We have also included bus information and contacts to help people plan their journey prior to the event as best as possible.
