The great laughter deficit – Happy New Year

by ANDY HUNTER on JANUARY 11, 2011

I read over the Christmas break that people in the 1950’s used to laugh 18 minutes a day on average – now it’s down to around six minutes daily. I’m not at all sure how these figures were reached, but if there’s a grain of truth it’s an interesting - if possibly depressing – point.

If the case, January must be the lowest laughter time of the year, following Xmas & New Year excesses with the credit card bills to confirm all over-indulgence; also the reality check of back to work on cold and dull days.

But enough of that – I’m looking to kick-start 2011 with at least a smile…

On a personal level I’m told the health benefits of laughter can be far-reaching. The ‘stress hormone’ cortisol is released in the body during stressed or agitated states. But endorphins, those ‘happy hormones’ produced in the brain in response to a variety of stimuli including laughter and smiling, are widely regarded as a natural cures for high levels of stress.

A happy, vibrant atmosphere creates an ideal environment to build & maintain strong, long-term internal / external working relationships. The majority of PrintHouse personnel have been together for at least 5 years, many over 10 years and Tom (our Operations “Guru”) over 20 years.

So to develop & strengthen your working relationship for 2011 and beyond with our smiling, dedicated and knowledgeable team at PrintHouse, please call or visit us, or browse our web site to find out more…

FYI, we’ve printed more Books during 2010 than any single previous year. If you’ve a publishing project ready now or on the horizon, we’d love to discuss it with you – if it happens to contain a humorous element (intentional, of course) that will make us laugh out loud, then so much the better.

Best wishes for 2011

Andy
