Having just moved home, we decided the time was right for a relaxing holiday which involved a short flight and no driving. So we chose the Fermain Valley Hotel.

Right from the start we found there was a problem with our room because of an error by the travel company, not the hotel.

The hotel reacted very quickly to ensure our requirements were met. The room we were provided with was lovely with a nice view of the bay - please note, if booking you need to specify a coast view.

The reception and restaurant staff were extremely helpful and even provided gluten free bread etc for my wife.

It is always easy to criticise, but our experience was very positive and we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

Well done

Some lovely touches to this stay - eg the Aveda products in the bathroom, and being able to call reception to request to view a film of choice in your room. However we were in a gold room, number 10, and had anticipated a pleasantly quiet stay - but we were faced with a staircase going down one side of the room so a fair amont of noisy from people there and as we were over recepetion there was plenty of noise until about 11:30 on the Friday evening from non-residents leaving the restaurant. The rooms or walls were unusally thin as we also heard every detail of people passing by, though no noise from neighbouring rooms.

The bathroom was very small for such a hotel. I like a lovely bath and thought perhaps this room was just providing a small bathroom due to it's strange size. I called reception a couple of hours after check in and asked if there was a comparible room with a larger bath and the receptionist actaully asked "did I have a bath?" How sarcastic I thought. Nothing could be offered or done. This put me in a bad mood - customer service was obviously not a priority. Therefore we didnt bother to mention the annoyance of the noisy room until we checked out when we were offered a sorry.

Breakfast is very tasty - thought the room is not very exciting and it seemed as though the main restaurant is closed - perhaps not enough custom to open it now it's October. Didnt fancy eating an evening dinner in the "breakfast room" as I felt it was so we took great advantage of the "TennerFest" running across the Island until Mid November where one can eat a 2 or 3 coursemeal for £10 to £17.50. Interestlying the hotel had it's own Special offer meal for October at £17.50 but for whatever reason this wasn't in the Tennerfest brochure (which we picked up at the airport). The breakfast staff were lovely, one inparticular couldnt do enough to assist.

Overflow parking was not that far away - only a couple of minutes - but it felt furhter during the torrential rain we experienced - obviously nothing to do with the hotel - but would imagine when hotel full it would be a bit far for the less able to walk.

The Island held old fashioned charm and was extra special when the sun shone. If I returned I certainly wouldnt return to this Hotel - the website in particular sold it beyond the experience I had from my visit, regretfully.

We just returned from a weekend in Guernsey and stayed at the Fermain Valley Hotel for 2 nights. The hotel is nestled in a small valley with a lovely bay at the bottom of the gardens/valley. The hotel is very clean and comfortable with a modern but homely decor. We were upgraded to a room with views/balacony and the service could not be faulted. The staff were very helpful and attentive. There is an indoor pool and sauna, plus cinema and library/lounges. We ate in the restaurant both nights and enjoyed excellent food at reasonable prices. The hotel is a 5 minute drive to St Peters Port.

A well appointed hotel in a delightful position; the staff unfailingly friendly & helpful. Our room was spacious with a large & luxurious bathroom; the decanter of sherry was a nice touch although I prefer fino to cream! The public rooms include a small library & all have a 'club' feel to them; we particularly appreciated a log fire on a cool autumn evening. The sun terraces, pool & sauna allow for all weathers & the view from all of them, down the valley to the beach, is most attractive.

We enjoyed the food which was well presented & good value; I had to ask for an espresso coffee, but when it arrived it was excellent.

All in all a most enjoyable few days which we would be happy to repeat.

This was our first trip to the Channel Islands from the USA-The Fermain was everything we expected and more. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The extra "big wow" was the complimentary decanter of sherry and Guernsey fudge. I also want mention that the beds were so comfortable and supportive.
My tip for anyone going to Guernsey is to avoid driving if possible-we rented a car and found it pretty stressful to drive on the narrow busy roads. Left-lane driving was a change for us; however, the confusing unmarked roads was the big challenge the first few days.
Guernsey is a beautiful island with a rich interesting history. We found the Fermain Valley Hotel to be a relaxing and rejuvenating refuge after a long day of exploration on this beautiful paradise of cliffs, hydrangeas, and Guernsey cattle filled fields.

This was a lovely hotel, well suited for a long weekend break. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was very pleasant, well furnished and equipped. Nice touches - good hairdryer (not fixed to the wall), iron & ironing board, fridge, safe, flat screen TV, bathrobes, sherry, fresh fruit and nice toiletries as standard. We stayed in the main hotel in a gold room (sea view). The only difference between the Gold and the Silver rooms are, I believe, that Gold rooms have a sea view and the Silver rooms face the garden (or the road if you are staying in the upper garden annex building).

Breakfast was very good, as were the evening meals we ate in the brasserie. The library, which had three computers with free internet access, was a welcome bonus on a wet weekend. We did not use the swimming pool or sauna during the weekend but the facilites were inviting and available.

This hotel was well situated for walking the coastal path. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

I was at Fermain Valley Hotel for a business conference. Despite our hectic schedule I did manage to explore the hotel and surroundings only to find what a gem this one is! Location is awesome. Staff is courteous and very professional. The sea view rooms have a fantastic view of the garden and the sea beyond. The hotel is close to the start of the "cliff walk" which goes all the way to St Peter's Port (around 3km). Very nice restaurant. Will return sometime with my wife to fully enjoy the place

Fermain is absoloutely stunning, in every way. The location and the staff are wonderful They are all so polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and spotless with a high level of detail to those things that are so important and make your stay even more enjoyable. we were upgraded from a silver room to gold room as it was a quiet time of year. We had a wonderful view over the terrace and through the trees to the sea. Lovely clean bathroom Food in valley brasserie, just gorgeous. Couldnt fault it and we will be returning.

The hotel is very clean, modern decor, rooms were fine. very 4 star standard. What lifted the hotel was the service, friendly and extremely efficient. The staff are obviously chosen well, trained well and managed well.

On waiting in the lobby to leave the hotel at 7.00am I was offered a coffee while I waited. The coffee was freshly brewed and very much appreciated. I will be spending a considerable amount of time in Guernsey over the next 6 months and the Fermaine Valley hotel will be my preferred destination.
