Excellent hotel. Great location and would recommend this hotel to anyone for a short break away. All the staff could not have been nicer and nothing was a bother to them. The only thing I would ask is that they get an Irish barman in to train their staff how to pour a pint of Guinness.

We visited for the weekend to run the GU36 Ultra marathon. The staff couldn't have been any more kind and helpful during our stay. Managment, reception, concierge, restaurant, bar staff & housekeeping were all outstanding.
Great sea view, comfy bed, pillows, tea & coffee, fruit in our room on arrival.
I left early Sunday morning before breakfast service and was offered a smoothie as a replacement & some protein snacks after the race.
Had a quick dip in the heated outside pool which was lovely.
Love the evening turndown service, slippers in the room and even a good luck card on the Saturday night.
Breakfast was superb with a great selection. We also enjoyed a lamb & prawn curry from the Curry Room.
I highly recommend a stay at The OGH. A real home from home in a very historical building.

I stay at the hotel frequently. It’s always a pleasure. Staff are fantastic, rooms are great. Gym is well equipped.
Lovely sheltered outdoor pool area.
Food is wonderful.
Spa is also very good, what more could you ask for. I will without doubt continue staying at the OGH whenever I visit Guernsey.

First the Bad. Sadly on arrival the front of the hotel to the left was covered in scaffolding and the first room offered had this as the view which I rejected. The second room offered was almost as we had booked but not a king twin,( a king double.) however we accepted the room as a good size with a balcony and view of the harbour. Sadly the room on inspection was tired, ragged black out curtains, bathroom door unable to close, window fittings loose and condensation within the double glazing. not a great start.! However now to the Good !
Once firmly complained ,staff sprang into action!,drapes were changed, door and windows fixed, housekeeping spruced the room, while we were treated to a glass of bubbly (to compensate for the wasted time.) we were also gifted the first nights dinner with complimentary wine. Wonderful !.(advise to management, first impressions count, prevention is better than cure,be proactive with maintenance and housekeeping, advise of any building works that may affect certain rooms and poss offer at a reduced rate.
Now the lovely, This is Guernseys only 5 star hotel and priced accordingly, all the staff are wonderful, polite and efficient. they make your stay really special. we felt really well looked after and entertained,we had breakfast every day (superb )and dinner on 2 evenings lovely food and wine. I would make special mention of all the front of house staff, the dog whisperer Govind Prathap, (for handling the hound stampede!) and all the waiting staff who were superb. A special stay, would reccomend.

Last night we went for a Gin Tasting experience and an Indian tasting platter which I had a voucher for as a Christmas present. Malcolm took our gin tasting session and he was amazing. His knowledge was vast and really opened our eyes to how we should pair our Gins with particular tonics. When we finished he then made us some amazing cocktails. Malcolm is an asset to the Red Carnation group! Thank you Malcolm we can’t wait to see you again soon for the cocktail class!!

All of the staff at The Old Government House &
Spa go above & beyond to ensure that we always have a 5 star stay. Govind, Anele, Tom & Kris in-particular always make sure that we are well looked after & any requests we may have are always catered for.

We love staying at the old Government house & will continue to stay here whenever we come to Guernsey.

Other positives for the hotel are its location, the facilities, and the lounge areas are very comfortable.

A delightful experience with a wonderfully friendly and genuine team headed up by Alessandro.

They didn't stop smiling and nothing was too much trouble!

It was evident the culture of the hotel is excellent and the staff thoroughly enjoy engaging with guests who like a bit of banter!

I am sure we'll be back.

The weekend break at the OGH was wonderful. The hotel is located within walking distance of the centre of St Peter Port. The facilities, especially around the pool in the sunshine , were great. We ate in both the Brasserie and the Curry Room and both meals where fantastic. What makes the OGH special are it's staff who are both professional and friendly. A special mention of Jeffrey and his team in the Crown Bar who were excellent.

Excellent location and a wonderful, warm welcome at this elegant, traditional hotel, steeped in interesting history. Room was ‘snug’ but comfortable and we had a lovely view overlooking gardens and Castle Cornet. Breakfast was top notch! Kris at front of house was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable and always on hand to assist with a cheerful smile. The service was first class overall. Thank you for a perfect stay.

Having enjoyed a previous visit we selected a sea facing room this time and had great views onto the harbour and the Castle from the bay windows.
The room was nice and the bathroom had an excellent walk in shower, just what we like. Furnishings are in keeping with the mature style and age of the hotel and comfortable. The only really strange thing occurred on our first night. The housekeeper lowered the Roman blinds while we were at dinner: in the morning I couldn’t get them up, just couldn’t find any mechanism or electric control so when I went down to breakfast I saw reception to ask what I had not understood. Returning to the room after breakfast we found a maintenance crew taking the blinds out as the mechanism simply wasn’t there on the blinds: we were promised they would be completely fixed during the day and indeed at 2 pm the maintenance crew refitted them , this time with the little chain pulley systems in place. How on earth did this situation arise…..did the previous room occupants leave the blinds up all the time? How did the housekeeper get them down on the first night when the mechanism wasn’t there? Totally weird but quickly fixed and this was an example of the excellent service we experienced throughout our stay.
The sandwiches in the conservatory were very good indeed, the breakfasts were excellent, large range of things to eat and top quality, and again always great service.
The swimming pool was warm, clean and not very much used as it was chilly weather and only sunny in the afternoon but that’s British weather.
A most enjoyable stay from which we take away such good memories of all the team working in the hotel and their welcoming faultless service.
