Lovely hotel, lovely staff (apart from one man-hating woman who left a really sour taste in our mouth), and lovely rooms!

The rooms are incredibly nice, spacious and pitoresque. It surpassed our expectations by far.

The Rock Garden restaurant is incredible, including their very juicy and flavourful cocktails.

Just stay away from The Ocean Bar & Grill. The food is inedible and the woman who operates there and in the coffee shop is rude beyond comparison!!!

But, as the hotel is a fantastic place where the rest of the staff truly apply themselves in being kind and helpful, I won’t let this one rotten apple ruin it for the rest. With that said, I hope the management will see to her being removed.

On the plus side, the staff at the hotel were superb and the hotel was very quiet despite being full. We even had a good chat with Vlad, the General Manager who seemed interested in discussing the hotel with us.

The bathroom in our room was excellent and the rain shower was great.

The food was excellent, especially the wide selection and fresh cooked breakfasts.

The bar staff in both Buho and The Rock Garden were very friendly too. Lunches at Ocean overlooking the bay were great (weather permitting).

One small negative point though was that our room (49) was a little on the small side up the hill in the Venue. When it was hot we could open the windows for ventilation but as the hotel is on the flight path and near the airport, plane noise would wake us up at 0630-0700!

We arrived early and was greeted by Susi, who was knowledable and friendly.
They looked after our bags, so we could go off and explore the town.
Our room was basic but clean and tidy. The balcony and view exceptional.
Unfortunatly we couldnt get in to our chosen resturant due to staff shortages.
The breakfast was fantastic.
Pool was clean and Sauna lovely and hot.
Marco on reception was also incredably helpful, fun and friendly.
They sent up a lovely card to congratulate us on our wedding, thank you.

I booked this Hotel with great expectations. But it went off to a very bad start. Our flight was delayed by two hours [not the Hotel's fault], so we had not eaten all day, when we arrived at the Hotel it was just past 4 pm. We asked whether it was possible to get a light meal in one of the Restaurants, we were told that the Restaurants are now closed. We then went to the Bar and asked if they had a bag of crisps or nuts, but were told that they did not. We then asked the Receptionist whether we could order something through room service and were told that Room Service only starts at 9pm. My wife is Diabetic and needs some food or she will collapse, We went up to the room and looked at the Room Service Menu which clearly states that Room Service was available from 6am to 11 pm. I called down to ask for Room Service only to be told off by the Receptionist again, saying to me 'didn't I tell you that room service only begins at 9pm?'. So I waited until 9pm, before we could finally eat. Checking in was also an issue, I was told that I had to use a smart phone only, which I do not have, the Receptionist then took my phone without asking and tried to do it herself, but unfortunately she could also not do it for quite some time. Once everything was done, she printed out some forms which I had to manually fill in and sign. What is the purpose of going through all this nonsense about using my phone to check in and then still having to fill in and sign forms? Very much to my surprise I was told the next day, that the Hotel does have room service all day long and that we were given totally wrong advice by the Receptionist. The next evening I tried to order some Room Service at about 8 pm, but there was no response for more than half an hour. I then tried to call Reception for several minutes and they did also not answer the phone. I decided to go downstairs to find out why, only to find the Reception completely deserted at 8.30 pm, I walked into the Bar to look for somebody, the lights were on but there was nobody there, I walked into the Restaurant, the lights were on but nobody there. I returned to the Reception to wait an other 10 minutes but nobody showed up. I did go back to my room and eventually managed to get through to Room Service. I ordered some food for the two of us, only to discover that they brought completely wrong orders, not what we had ordered, and the drinks missing. I was getting tired and frustrated, so I just left it.
The next day was my wife's birthday, I had prearranged a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to the Breakfast table. I had prepaid for this together with my booking. Needless to say that no flowers were being delivered. For the evening I had arranged Dinner at the Rock Garden and when I made the booking I told them that we celebrated my wife's birthday and would they be able to organise a small birthday cake, for which I would pay. That also did not work, after our meal I asked the Waiter whether or not he was supposed to bring something, and he said no, that he was not aware of anything else...... I should perhaps add, that the flowers that were supposed to be brought to the Breakfast table, were put into our room late in the afternoon. But that is not what I had ordered and paid for. Altogether a rather disappointing stay at what I thought would be a nice little break. Derek Coates [late owner of the Hotel] would probably turn in his grave if he saw how they treat their guests!

We Booked five nights at the Fermain valley to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. On arrival we were shown to our room. There was a card waiting for us. We were delighted to discover that this was was an anniversary card from the staff at the hotel. It had a beautiful peacock on the front and remained in pride of place on the dresser for the duration of our stay. There was a minor issue with a flickering light in the bathroom and as my husband has hyper sensitivity we requested that this be rectified. We were duly moved to an alternative bedroom. Both if the rooms were absolutely beautiful. We were given a plate of fresh fruit and a bottle of sherry and glasses in addition to the standard hot drinks facility and bottled water. We were informed that breakfast was served from 7am to 10am during the week and 7.30 to 10.30 at weekends. The breakfast was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the the selection of melons pineapple orange, blueberries and strawberrys. In addition there was also a fruit bowl with whole fruits such as apples, oranges and pears. There was a good section of cereals and dried fruit as well as French patries. The cooked selection was just as vast and for those who were staying at the hotel any selection from this menu was free of charge. We were both impressed that there was also a good variety of vegetarian snd vegan options. Tea and toast were plentiful but there was also an option to order freshly brewed cofee. .After breakfast we had the luxury of sitting on the balcony . The views of the island were stunning. We were especially fortunate to have been blessed with unusually warm weather for October. The room was cleaned daily to a very high standard every day. There is also a beautiful pool and sauna located downstairs. It was a pleasant suprise to discover that the pool was heated and the sauna was very hot. This is not always the case at hotels. The pool is open to 11pm but I was was surprised to discover that although the hotel was busy I had both the pool and sauna to myself each evening! We were asked if we wanted a newspaper and given the option to have it delivered to our room . We chosevto pick this up each morning. It was good to see that there was a wide selection of UK papers for everyone to read both in reception snd on the bar. When we went the restaurant was not open however there were options to order evening meals straight to the room and there was a good selection of food on offer. The Buhu restaurant adjacent was however open and we were made aware that the residents of the Fermain would be given priority. There was also a bar on the fist floor. This proved to be very popular in the evening with both guests and locals. Equally the cafe bar opposite the reception proved to be popular during the daytime. The location could not be better as there are amazing views without the need to leave your room in most cases. There is also plenty of walks. Parking is ample with lots of overspill carparks so arriving back late was never an issue. All of the staff without exception were extremely professional and helpful. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. The rooms were also cleaned to an exceptional standard. We really feel that this hotel made our holiday. Guernsey is a beautiful island and combined with superb hotel our 8th Anniversary could not have been any better. The hotel snd the staff are a real credit to the Island. Hope it remains there for many years to come.

I took my 2 daughters (age 11 and 14) for a 5 night break at Fermain Valley hotel during October half term. We were not disappointed. The room (28, Platinum room) was warm and comfortable and the housekeeping did an extraordinary job each day making the room look immaculate and restocking the delicious shortbread biscuits and hot chocolate :) The staff that work in this hotel are some of the nicest, friendliest people you will come across in the hospitality industry. They work incredibly very long hours (you’ll often see the same member of staff serving at breakfast, running the tea room, abs waiting in the restaurants in the evening too!) the staff work so very hard and nothing is too much trouble. The shuttle car which takes you to town for free is a fantastic added bonus but be sure to book in advance. Likewise with the on site restaurants (we visited The Rock Garden and Buho - wonderful food in both, but book very early as these eateries are very popular with locals too!) We loved the breakfast buffet and menu, the food was delicious and again the staff couldn’t do enough for you. We were so sad to leave. An extra big special thank you to Susie on reception who is an angel and saved the day when our ferry back to Portsmouth was delayed in a Halloween nightmare! Hope to return very very soon!
