My wife and I stayed for five nights in one of the Gold rooms overlooking the terrace and valley. The hotel was excellent and much better than our expectations and we would wholeheartly recommend it.
If we had one criticism it would be the restaurant staff, without a floor manager on duty there was a definate lack of direction. On one of the evening we ate in the Ocean restaurant and it was the old story of the fewer tables to serve the slower the service. Romain when on duty was excellent and is a great asset.
All in all a very nice hotel with fabulous food and a perfect location.
Gavin and the reception staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

We've just returned from a five-night stay at the Fermain Valley where quality is delivered in every detail by staff who combine professional and personable skills in equal measure. We stayed on a platinum package, with a room with balcony overlooking the bay, with flights from London Gatwick and airport transfers in Guernsey included. We were impressed with the hotel from the minute we were met by the Ferman's wonderful driver - a terrific ambassador for the hotel. He has a winning combination of charm and calm - and is endlessly knowledgeable about the local area, down to advising on which bus stops will be least crowded if trying to board the 'round the island' 91 and 92 bus routes. The rooms are well-equipped (good teabags, towelling robes and slippers, decanter of sherry, great The White Company toiletries) and very, very clean. The meals in the Ocean restaurant were consistently excellent, served in a very relaxed atmosphere. The design of the hotel is great: the indoor pool is downstairs, but fronted by huge retractable windows that we assume open out onto the terrace overlooking the bay in warmer weather. And on evenings when there aren't events at the hotel's The Venue conference centre, guests are free to use the fabulous private cinema to view the hotel's extensive DVD collection. We chose Les Miserables, to round off a day featuring a visit to Victor Hugo's home on the island. We would highly recommend the Fermain Valley to, well, everyone.

Very nice. Stayed in The Venue which is nearer to the road at the top of the valley and close to the 91 and 93 Bus stop. Nice clean new room with good view and Sky TV. A short steep walk through Eden Project inspired garden to main Hotel was fine and the food really good at Breakfast and Dinner. Tip if you want to eat at either of the two restaurants book as early as you can. They are very popular as the food is great and everything is new still. At the bottom of the valley is a nice pebble beach with a great cafe. I know it's hard to believe but it's all true. There's a moderate mile walk along the coast to St Peter Port. Or going South a nice walk to Jerbourg and Petit Port. Didn't need a car as buses and taxis are good. We don't normally repeat holidays but could do this again. The only downside was the FlyMayBe return flight was cancelled and we jumped onto the Condor Ferry. Which was great.

Just returned from 2 weeks on Channel Islands spending our first week here at this comfortable hotel in a delightful setting with superb views. Generally the service was first class and our thanks go to Gavin for his efforts on all fronts including the provision of free transport when ever possible even to and from rival restaurants. The Rock Gardens steak house simply buzzes with atmosphere and enthusiasm led by the professionalism of Simon and the great personalities of the 'scouser' brothers throwing the cocktails. The main restaurant we found acceptable but lacked a degree of atmosphere perhaps due both to setting and some rather inexperienced staff. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a well situated and comfortable residence for our extremely enjoyable holiday and we would return here. See review of sister hotel Braye Beach Alderney where we spent second week.

The staff were very accommodating extremely pleasant friendly and very professional nothing seemed to be to much trouble for any of them.
The food was very good with lots of atmosphere in the steak house.
The overall cleanliness of the hotel is exceptional , and the quality of the linen and the products in the bathroom are lovely.
This hotel is a must its just a lovely place to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We will be back again next year.

The view from the backside of the hotel into the valley is amazing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Facilities of the hotel are decent. Rooms are huge. Probably the single drawback is the noise on the roof of the backside that you can here on the top floor corridor.

This a great hotel at the top of a secluded valley on the east of the Island. It's an easy 10 min walk down to the pebble beach, which also has a beachside cafe (open from 0900-2000) located there

The hotel does offer a shuttle service to various places, but we found that unless you booked days in advance, it was often difficult to book the shuttle because it was already being used. We did get picked up at the harbour on arrival and dropped off at the airport on departure which was great. Walking to St Peter Port is fairly easy 35 mins via road (almost all downhill) or about 45 mins via the costal footpath (not suitable for disabled or pushchairs).

Several buses go past on the main road from/to town or 91/92 takes you the £1 trip around the island, 91 goes clockwise, 92 goes anti-clockwise.

Fermain Valley Hotel is a smart, clean, nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard. It has about 40 rooms in the main building. On our arrival, we were met outside by the Manager, shown around the hotel by the receptionist, Jeanne and provided with a complimentary glass of prosecco . Two restaurants on site, the Ocean which is available for breakfast (buffet and very good with hot food to order) and evening meal. Prices are about the norm, £18-22 for a main course. Also available is the Rock Restaurant, a steak and seafood place with a wide range of steaks available from different countries. The food is of a high quality, the staff very efficient and friendly. Only once did they let us down with taking so long to take our desert order that we had to ask, but it was an isolated occasion. We walked to the Best Western Havelet Hotel once, about 25 mins and had a super meal in the Havelet Grill (review available).

We had a platinum room, a vast bedroom with a wonderful window view of the sea. The room was well furnished with complimentary sherry topped up every day. The bathroom was a little small with a bath and not a shower. We were really happy with the room. There was a turndown service in addition to the daily room servicing. The usual coffee and tea making (I have never seen so many different types of tea available in the room) and biscuits. We had a problem with the room safe and despite the staff trying to fix it on three occasions, I had to advise them each time they had failed. In the end, I told them perhaps it is something they could resolve for the next lucky resident.

One thing which seems to have gone unnoticed in previous reviews is that the hotel is on the direct flight path for the airport with incoming flights starting at 0630 and continuing to about 2100. The noise was very noticeable, i suppose there may be 30 aircraft in a day. On Sunday evening, we had about 10 come over in less than 2 hours. I would suggest the runway is about 3-4 miles away as the crow flies or aircraft in this instance, therefore the aircraft are quite low. Sometimes they will land from the west so you are then affected by aircraft taking off which is not so noisy as those landing. Now I don't mind looking at aircraft and am normally awake early so for us it didn't matter, but I suspect some will not be forgiving!

Would I come here again, absolutely yes, great place, friendly and efficient staff & management, certainly one of the better hotels we have visited.

The hotel is amazing, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Met at the port by the hotel's shuttle service and whisked to the hotel. Shown around the hotel by Jeanne and offered a glass of Prosecco. Large room with a fab view of the fermain bay. Two restaurants on site serving excellent food. Complimentary sherry in the room - a lovely touch especially for those who enjoy a glass of sherry before dinner. Lovely swimming pool on site as well. Breakfast includes continental buffet and also cooked breakfast options. Shuttle service available but need to book well in advance. There is a bus service 5 minutes walk from the hotel or you can walk to St Peters Port either by the roads or by the coastal path. Had a fantastic 5 day holiday at the hotel and would recommend this hotel for others to stay at.

The room was elegant and luxurious. The bathroom was very spacious. The views from the terrace bar overlooking the valley to the sea were stunning and my husband and I spent many relaxing hours there. The cocktails at The Rock garden were very good and the entertainment factor of both cocktail waiters high. The Oysters and Lobster at the Ocean restaurant were sublime. The attention to detail of all staff was excellent and I have already recommended this hotel to quite a few of my friends and would not hesitate to return in the near future.
