I stayed in this hotel with a group and all of us were very satisfied with our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you! The room and bathroom were large. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony comfortable for one person. This depends on the room and number of occupants. Other balconies were very spacious. The food was absolutely amazing and breakfast caters to every tastebud, which is why I find it hard to understand some of the other reviews. The chefs deserve a Michelin star. The grounds are excellently maintained and the spa facility and pool area were lovely. Loved the ducks :-) There is a supermarket within 5 minutes walking distance and downtown can be reached quickly by bus.
In summary I can highly recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at this Hotel many times over the last 20 years or so and have always enjoyed our stay despite the few spells of bad weather, there being plenty of things to do at this Hotel. The staff are very well versed in looking after guests and have the time to have a chat now and again. The rooms are most comfortable and well serviced each day by excellent housekeeping staff.
We usually opt for rooms with either garden or lake views these also face Southerly direction.
Meals are very good either in the bar or Dining room with ample choice menus.
Bathing and health care facilities are excellent.

Had a wonderful 5 day stay here. My parents spent their honeymoon in Guernsey 54 years ago and I took them back for their birthdays and my hubby's birthday - we had a fabulous time.

The staff at the hotel are very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The food in both the bar and the restaurant is good, as is the service.

The spa and the pool are fabulous - the pool gets busy mid morning and mid afternoon. There is a lovely sun terrace to sit out on overlooking the pond and fountain; it also has a nice hot tub. In the pool area there is both a sauna and a steam room.

We hired a car for our stay and there is ample parking at the hotel. Parking in the island is free too.

The rooms are lovely, my only criticism would be that they are not well soundproofed. We could hear the people next door really clearly; this may be because it was a room that has an adjoining door. If I go back to Guernsey I would stay at this hotel but would ask for a room without an adjoining door. The noise issue could do to be sorted out.

The provisions in the room are good and tea/coffee/biscuits are replenished twice daily. The toiletries provided were lovely.

We chose this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff our efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The facilities are great and there is a real feel of a touch of class. The gym, swimming pool, sauna and hot tub are superb. The showers need a special mention. From the ones in the room, to the ones in the changing rooms. They are all great. Some parts of the hotel are a little tired and could do with a spruce up. But the overall effect is a nice and relaxing place to stay.

The staff at this hotel are amazing. Nothing was ever to much.

Ever Breakfast we were greeted by a lovely gentleman that went above and beyond. We even saw him nip to a nearby shop for one guests request for peanut butter.

He wasn't the only person that made our stay.

Free tennis and facilities for our kids was great.

The staff are this hotels best asset.

We will be back.

A beautiful hotel, superb furniture, artwork and bedroom furnishings. Of course the pool and spa are an added bonus. The restaurant food/wine list/staff service are top notch. Our third visit and will return to to glorious Guernsey and the OGH next year, I hope...
What is also rather pleasant returning for the third time, is the continuity of staff, of course Andrew Chantrell (the Manager, he has been there for 10 years) , Harry Seepaul, Jaro Opletal. . Special mention for ‘Honky Tonks’ (do not know his name), he bas been the resident piano player and singer at the OGH for years in the evenings in the restaurant - a most convivial and colourful fellow, with a lot of musical talent. Diners tend not to applaud him, we got that going!!
All the best for the future OGH, I adore the place...

I meant to review this ages ago but have only just got around to it. We stayed in June for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was an absolute joy. The staff are kind and attentive - we'd mentioned it was our anniversary and they left cake in our room for us when we got back one evening! In particular Nelly (I think - apologies if I misremembered her name) on the front desk was a real delight - she was chatty, friendly and gave us great recommendations for our stay. The room was nice and comfortable, the interior beautiful throughout. One evening we had a party and had hired out a small section of the bar for our guests and the staff were very accommodating. The location is great - it's in a quiet spot at the top of the town with nice views, with all the St Peter Port sites within walking distance. You can also catch buses from just around the corner to other parts of the island. I only have two very minor issues: for a five-star hotel the pool was a little small (though nice), and also one morning we experienced very poor service at breakfast. I think it was just a one-off, but we waited half an hour just to order! We had plans that day so ended up rushing through breakfast as a result. The next day, though, it was perfect, and the food itself was great.
