This year the 16th annual Torteval Scarecrow Festival takes place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August 2019.
This Torteval Parish event started in 2004 and grows larger each year, with ever more bizarre entries. The Scarecrow Trail, through some of the delightful rural lanes of Torteval, is open each day from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Unaccompanied tours of the Scarecrow Trail take approximately 90 minutes to complete at a gentle stroll from Torteval Parish Church (Perry's Guide 26D3). Disabled visitors may drive around the Trail after 6.00pm.
Over 60 scarecrows will be on display, including motorised scarecrows, and the innovation, sense of fun and community spirit of Torteval will be evident in every one. In addition on the Saturday the Homemade Hand-held Scarecrow Competition will be open to all children, judged in two categories for Pre-School and Primary aged children. Morris Dancing and an Old Tractor demonstration will also take place. Refreshments and a licensed bar are available throughout the day.
