Joanna Macgregor CBE is recognised internationally for her sparkling pianism and innovative artistry. Her programme explores hidden gems alongside familiar favourites including Bach’s French Suite No. 5, a charming collection of Baroque dances, Beethoven’s Appassionata Sonata which is as full of fire and drama as the name suggests, and Liszt’s dark and ominous Funérailles. The programme concludes with Macgregor’s own composition, For Nina Simone, and her own arrangement of Piazzolla’s Four Tangos.
Joanna Macgregor is Head of Keyboard Studies at The Royal Academy of Music and is much sought after as a teacher. She will work with local piano students in the afternoon workshop (4:45pm). All are welcome to observe.
