PINK LADIES SUNSET COASTAL WALK
  • Guernsey
    Channel Islands
  • Saturday 29th June
The seventh Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk is taking place on Saturday 29th June raising money for Breast Cancer Support Group Guernsey.

Every two years women and girls have walked the route around the coast dressed in pink to raise money for equipment and support services to help breast cancer patients and their families.

This year will be no different and thousands are expected to sign up and take part in the walk from Grandes Rocques (or Bordeaux) to Market Square. The challenge raises money with sponsorship fees and by dressing in the charity's signature colour to remind women of the charity's aims.

"Last time it was more about technology and equipment this time it's more around health and wellbeing. We want to make sure we're giving the right emphasis around living not just surviving breast cancer working in partnership with other charities and Dr Nicola Brink

The event is aimed at women although it should be noted men can also contract breast cancer. All ages are welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult. Both walks end with a party in Market Square with music and dancing from Abba Sensation, where food and drinks will also be available.

"It's about women getting together and supporting each other. We have such fantastic services over here and people should know what level of support is out there within the healthcare system as well as other women who have been through a diagnosis.

“The Sunset Walk is our way of raising awareness of the impact of breast cancer on women and families in Guernsey. We want to encourage women to pay attention to their health & participate in breast screening and regular breast awareness checks.

The Sunset Walk is a fantastic affirmation of the courage and strength of women and those who support them. We look forward to seeing friends and supporters old and new helping us raise awareness of the importance of cancer screening and awareness as well as having a great time walking along the beautiful Guernsey coastline.

We are delighted to have the support of our Patron, Lady Corder & her team of ladies at Government House to help us encourage people to save the date,” she said.

Women are invited to register once the forms are available next month using the application form on the Pink Ladies website.

Forms will also soon be widely available from different retail outlets across the island.
