This was our second holiday at the OGH to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Indeed, we noticed that there were a lot of Returners like us. The location is perfect for the town and its attractions, the bus station, and the ferry port that services all the Channel Islands. Upon arriving at the hotel, one is immediately greeted and looked after, and this attentiveness continued for the whole of our stay. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuine, and provided exceptional service. Everyone remembered our names and the attention to detail was incredible. The atmosphere was one of joining a big family of staff and guests, where everything was possible. We felt like real VIPs throughout our stay. Our room was spacious, serviced daily, clean and tidy, and we enjoyed balcony seats with sea views of Herm and Sark, and the price was extremely competitive. The hotel has a beautiful warm outside pool and spacious area with sunbeds, chairs and tables, and pool facilities. It has made good use of the space available and there is a lovely olive terrace, garden and outside bar area. There is also an extensive spa and gym, which residents can use. The hotel is beautifully decorated and faithful to its heritage with lots of antiques, artwork, and moments of history shared throughout its lounges, public areas and guest rooms. As expected, the food was of a very high standard and quality, and well presented. Anyone who has a special diet is catered for. Our wedding anniversary dinner in Le Brasserie was exquisite. Both bars were well stocked, with lots of choice, and there are plenty of different areas to sit. The hotel offers several excursions and we booked 2 of them. We enjoyed an amazing Sunset, Fizz and Chips at Cabo Bay, attended to by the hotel butler and head concierge. It was simply a special and divine experience which will stay with us forever, and the sunset was spectacular too! We also booked the Sark Experience where we had our own private horse and carriage with a local guide for the day and this enabled us to visit most places on the island. We also had a huge Afternoon Tea at OGH which took us all afternoon to devour. Delicious! This hotel definitely lives up to its 5-star status. We will be back soon!

The Hotel looked great & all the amenities were excellent downstairs, however, the Room - A Classic Garden View Room, was disappointing as it didn't have a clear view of the Garden, no Air Conditioning & the furnishing was rather dated. The Bathroom was like a Sauna, as the Expellair was very poor, even after a cold shower.
The Bed was very comfortable, but sleep was very limited due to the very Hot conditions & the sound of the fans, which had to be constantly running.
The Staff were all excellent, helpful & friendly, especially the room housekeeping maid. The friendly and cheerful nature of all the Staff was very commendable in the very hot conditions.
The view from the small Balcony was very limited in the Room we were allocated on the second floor.
The Golf Facility was a separate concern and there was very limited information at Reception; however, they could book a Tee time if required & there was no shuttle service between the Hotel & the Golf Club/Course, so it was either a case of a steep climb with your clubs or a short journey in the car to get to the course, clubhouse & driving range.
Overall, it was a great relaxing holiday, but it could have been so much better with A/C in the Rooms & a little investment in updating the furnishings.

Just back from a fabulous week at Fermain Valley Hotel. It ticked every single box. We had a great room and it was house kept every day. The breakfasts were superb. Lots of choice at a bar buffet and a long menu of cooked items which were always well made and nicely presented. We ate at all three hotel restaurants and returned to the Mexican restaurant a second time. All three were great. Great service. In fact the staff throughout the hotel were attentive, polite and helpful. It was so nice to be taken care of. We have already booked to return this year.
A few bits and bobs: kettle and cafetière in room / strong WiFi / bus stop within 200m and you can get anywhere for £1.70 / we hired E-bikes from Go Guernsey and they delivered to the hotel / we didn’t bring or hire a car; no need / bar and cafe areas were just as should be / nicely kept landscaped grounds / very peaceful / beach and cafe out the hotel and down the hill.
Thank you.

We have just spent a week at Fermain Valley Hotel and enjoyed the stay. The hotel is charming, the grounds are lovely, and the outside veranda is a real highlight — perfect for relaxed breakfasts and dinners overlooking the sea. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and attentive, which made the stay feel special.
The only downside was the room. We stayed in Room 38 which was tastefully decorated and large. However Rooms 38 - 42 are located in the eaves, and during our stay — which coincided with an unprecedented heatwave — the temperature inside reached 34.8°C, even with two fans running constantly. The sun shines directly on the roof on the afternoon onwards and the heat does not dissipate in the evening, even when it was much cooler outside, which made sleeping very difficult. We were told that only 4 bedrooms have aircon in the entire hotel.
Special mention to Catya on Reception who moved heaven and earth to transfer our room (if only for 3 nights). This room was noticeably cooler by 6 degrees.
If you’re booking, I’d strongly recommend choosing a room in a different part of the hotel. With the right room, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Guernsey.
