Ahhhh the month of January, don't you just love it? Round it comes every year with it's gloomy days and dark nights, bringing with it the necessity for optimism, forward planning and big lifestyle changes, all when you'd rather just hide under the duvet until February. So what's in line for a shake up this year? I am embarking on a healthy eating plan ... again!
So what happens next, do I ditch the carbs and embrace the whole high protien business, join a slimming group and pay for the privilege of being weighed by a complete stranger or follow the rather sensible eating plan issued by the gym I attend? I will keep you posted!
Of course it's not just diet that needs monitored it's exercise too. I can't help but think that the people of Dunfermline must be very fit and healthy. The Carnegie Leisure Centre has just reopened after its eye watering 18.3 million revamp, that's only 12.3 million over the initial budget, not bad Fife Council, you weren't far out. The newly opened Gym64, Fife's first 24 hour gym, is proving popular, add to that Step Up Fitness, Curves, Bannatynes, Energy Zone and the Keavil House Gym the gym users in the Dunfermline area are spoiled for choice. The gym's not for everyone though so what are the other options? Perhaps Fido's lifestyle will have to change too? I'm sure he'd appreciate longer walks and we're not short of parks and woodlands in Fife. You could do what my husband's doing right now, get your bike out and go for a cycle. How about running? Drive down Halbeath Road any day of the week, rain, hail or shine, and you will pass several runners pounding the pavements. Perhaps some are members of the Carnegie Harriers Running Club? Or you could join the party and take up Zumba, did you know that there are over 100 Zumba classes within a five mile radius of Dunfermline alone? It's staggering! Some are listed in the Events section here so take a look.
So as I proceed through January nil by mouth (not quite but it seems that way), what are your plans for 2012?
