On Tuesday evening Tina and I had the pleasure of attending The Best of Fife's Best of Business event at the Garvock House Hotel, Dunfermline.  I was a little nervous when Mark told me there would be around 70 people at the Event but everyone was friendly and we took the opportunity to chat to some 'weel kent faces' and some not so 'weel kent'.  

It's always lovely to see the ladies from Lula in the Maygate, Dunfermline, Tina, in particular, is a big fan of their vintage and vintage inspired clothing http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lula-Boudoir-Boutique/212941332052373.  Also had the pleasure of speaking to the lady who runs Cloud Nine Cakes http://www.cloudninecelebrations.com/index.html, they have recently opened a shop in Dunfermline, again in the Maygate, they have two established shops in Glasgow, just had a look at their website and the cakes look amazing!  Plus we had an interesting chat with James at the Online Print Company http://www.theonlineprintcompany.co.uk/, I was impressed to find out how they could help us with our printing and branding in the future, just got to use up some of the old postcards etc and then we'll be in touch!  There were so many interesting people in attendance that the three I have mentioned were just the tip of the iceberg, definitely an event well worth attending.  

For me the highlight of the evening was listening to Pete Wood of D&G Autocare http://www.dandgautocare.co.uk/.  It was fascinating to learn how they had grown the business from the ground up, emphasising how central good customer care is to the business.  I've been a long time fan of D&G, what impressed me most when I visited with my car was being treated like an equal, I wasn't made to feel inadequate or foolish in any way.  More recently we have reduced down to being a one family car again and I thought this meant that we could no longer use D&G and had began to use a large chain within walking distance for our car repair needs however I have been let into a big secret!  If I drop my car at D&G to be repaired they will drive me home again, plus they will pick me up at home and bring me to the garage when the car is ready!  Genius!  I love it, going to give this a try next time the car needs repaired.
