Princess Alice Hospice has been providing vital end of life care and support to adult patients across a large care area including Surrey, south west London and Middlesex for over 25 years. The hard work and engagement by the community fundraising team is a great way of reminding communities that Princess Alice Hospice is their local Hospice.

One recent partnership with a local community group has proved incredibly successful. Emma Neil-Jones accompanied by the Avis sisters Emilia (6) and Beth (7) from Banstead, visited the Hospice to meet with Emma O’Hara, Senior Community Fundraiser, to hand over an amazing £9,500 that was raised at the Banstead May Queen Fayre earlier in the year.

Emma Neil–Jones was this year’s Queen and part of her role was to select a charity to support, Emma chose a charity that she was very much aware of. Her mother Dawn Neil-Jones is a community Princess Alice Hospice nurse. The hard working committee made up of local Banstead residents organized a brilliant event that was enjoyed by thousands.

Emma O’Hara, Senior Community Fundraiser said:

‘It was great fun working with the May Fayre Group; they all worked so hard and really made the event a huge success. The fundraising and retail teams at the charity were able to get involved with the fashion show. It was great that the different teams could work together and raise such a brilliant amount of money. The £9,500 could fund 108 visits to a patient’s home by a community Princess Alice Hospice nurse. The nurses provide vital care, support and advice, the ability of the Hospice to provide care in the community is very important to all our patients, but especially our younger patients who are busy caring for their families and might not be willing to come to the Hospice’.

The Community Fundraising team is always looking for new opportunities to fundraise, so if you are involved in organizing a community fun day, fete, Christmas Fair and indeed any event that raises money for charity, please contact events@pah.org.uk or call 01372 461 869 or visit www.pah.org.uk
