What a great start – launched only 2 weeks ago by the Epsom Guardian – The SHINE ON APPEAL for The Sunnybank Trust has received good wishes and donations. But there is still a long way to go, they aim to raise £75,000 by next April.

This local charity – supported by Chris Grayling MP and new Epsom Mayor Councillor Colin Taylor – makes a real difference to the lives of local people with learning disabilities.

The charity is a lifeline to many of people with learning disabilities who would otherwise be left isolated and extremely vulnerable: -

  • Providing a place and activity to join at the weekly Kites Social Club.
  • Preventing loneliness through the Sunnybank volunteer friends
  • Providing an independent Sunnybank advocate to any vulnerable man or woman who faces decisions or issues in their lives.
  • Ensuring a positive future for school leavers at Woodlands School as well as supporting their families in the transition.

Tom Rhind-Tutt, Chairman and Founder of the charity said:

“As mainstream services are cut back and corporate funding drops, we as Epsom’s leading learning disability charity are determined to continue supporting the 250 vulnerable men, women and young people in the local community. “
