On 5th November we blogged that Stoneleigh Library needs your support due to the Councils decision to remove professional library staff – thus requiring the library to be run by local volunteers. (see BLOG)
The Leader of Surrey County Council announced last week that the Councils phase 2 plans – which would have affected another 9 libraries – will be ended.
Plans to bring in volunteers for the initial 10 libraries – which include Ewell Court, Stoneleigh and Tattenhams are to continue. However the council have now given a guarantee that an experienced member of the Councils library team will be in attendance for at least 20% of their opening hours.
