Remember – recycle your pumpkins in Epsom @epsomewellbc #halloween

As spooky traditions go, no Halloween would be complete without a pumpkin. But don’t forget to use your weekly food waste recycling service for discarded Jack O'Lanterns.

All you need to do is either cut up your pumpkins and put them in your green food waste bin or simply put them whole on top of the bin on your normal collection day.

Your food waste ends up with a specialist company in Bedfordshire who convert it into a powerful but environmentally-friendly bio-fertiliser for agricultural use. Methane generated in this process is captured to generate electricity.

Alternatively, this year, instead of throwing away the contents of your lantern why not make something tasty such as roast pumpkin or a pumpkin tart? Pumpkins are rich in vitamins and minerals and a great food source which can be turned into a delicious meal.
