Hiring or buying a costume for just 1 day can be expensive.

Here are some sites which give ideas and patterns for those last minute costumes.

Yes – it helps if you can sew – but use your imagination!!

With very few fabric shops around – look in the wardrobe – there could be something there you have been meaning to throw away which you can use. Or look in the airing cupboard – maybe a sheet or towel could be utilised.

Charity shops are also a great places to look – it’s amasing how much material there is in some dresses and skirts.

But please remember with kids, if you are making a costume from card or board.

No sharp corners.

Put a coin on the corners and mark the curve – then cut this.

No sharp edges.

Use tape (masking – UPVC) and run this along the edges.

Nothing toxic – so please use the proper fabric paint.

The pictures below are from an amercian fancy dress store – but if you look at what they are – maybe you can get some ideas.
