Vote for your favourite park and help to pick the UK’s People’s Choice award. This year a record breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces were awarded the prestigious, international Green Flag Award.

These award winners included five green spaces in Epsom & Ewell - Epsom Common Local Nature Reserve, Ewell Court Park, Nonsuch Park, Alexandra Recreation Ground and Rosebery Park. You can find all the winning parks at www.greenflagaward.org

Because we all know how much parks mean to people, the annual People’s Choice award is now open – giving the public a chance to vote for their favourite. Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is encouraging people to vote for the five Green Flag award winning parks in the Borough:

  • Epsom Common Local Nature Reserve: has won the award for the ninth consecutive year
  • Nonsuch Park, Ewell Court Park and Alexandra Recreation Ground: have won the award for the fourth year in a row
  • Rosebery Park: won the award for the third time this year.

To vote, simply go to www.greenflagaward.org, select your country or region on the interactive map, find your favourite park or green space and click the 'vote for this site' button.

The vote will close at noon on Wednesday 30 September. The winner of the 2015 People’s Choice award will be announced in October.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award manager said, “We all have a favourite park, whether it’s our local green space or a special park we’ll travel miles to visit. Following another record breaking year for the Green Flag Award, we are urging everyone to vote for their own favourite park, so we can crown one of these 1,582 special parks as the People’s Choice 2015.”

The Green Flag Awards Scheme (www.greenflagaward.org) is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, under licence from the Department of Communities and Local Government, in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful, Keep Wales Tidy and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens and the National Housing Federation.

First launched in 1996, the Green Flag Award recognises and rewards the UK’s best parks and green spaces. It is the quality standard for public green spaces and recognises well-managed, high quality sites that meet the needs of their local community.
