Surrey County Council will be tweeting to advise you of travel problems.
Surrey County Council and BBC Surrey are working together to alert motorists of gritting activity, traffic info, weather conditions and road closures through Twitter.
The county has introduced new measures following last years heavy snows which brought many roads to a standstill in the area.
They have 24 new gritting vehicles – bringing the county fleet to more than 40. Also over 1500 grit bins and over 100 extra miles of roads have been earmarked for regular winter treatment, together with extra salt being provided for use in town centres.
