Around 49 enthusiastic walkers signed up for Round the Borough Hike earlier this month. The popular event now it’s fourth year joins up the Borough’s beautiful open spaces, including Epsom & Walton Downs, Epsom Common LNR (Local Nature Reserve), Nonsuch Park, the Hogsmill LNR and Horton Country Park LNR.
Participants ranged from the oldest, 72 years old to the youngest, 10 years old including local residents, a team from Epsom All Sorts and a fundraising team for the charity, Shooting Star Chase. Everyone who took part enjoyed the 20 mile route challenge making new friends and seeing areas of the Borough they had never visited before.
All participants received certificates on completing the Hike and those who had also taken part in the Bike event in May this year were awarded a specially designed key ring medal to recognise their achievement. The youngest participant William James who was part of the Boccia team in the P&G Surrey Youth Games earlier this year, completed both the Hike and Bike Challenge along with his Dad and brother. A big thank you to the nine wonderful volunteers including five councillors who helped out with road marshalling.
