THE grandstand enclosure at Epsom Racecourse has sold out for the first time since 2009 for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at the Investec Derby Day.

Since being re-built three years ago, this is the first time that both the Queen's Stand and the Grandstand have sold out.

The Investec Derby Festival is the first event in the Queen's calender for the Diamond Jubilee weekend, starting with Ladies Day on Friday June 1 and Investec Derby Day following on the June 2.

Rupert Trevelyan, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse, said; “Without doubt sales for the Investec Derby Festival have been particularly strong this year.

"Hosting the first engagement of the Diamond Jubilee weekend celebrations has provided the opportunity for racegoers to attend and be part of an event which has been enjoyed by Her Majesty The Queen for the last 60 years”.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the Upper Tattenham Enclosure at £25 in advance however officials at the Racecourse have suggested this area may also sell out.

Rupert added: “We have seen increased sales across all areas of the racecourse, with the new Grandstand selling out for the first time since it opened in 2009.

"The new initiatives we developed for the Investec Derby Festival have catered for the wide range of customers who are joining us to be part of this event now in its 233rd year.”
