Epsom & Ewell Borough Council celebrated the dedication and commitment of volunteers to their work in local community groups and voluntary organisations at the annual Voluntary Service awards held at the Town Hall earlier this month.

More than 30 nominations were received this year and 80 attended the ceremony which was held in the Council Chamber. The awards recognise the invaluable contribution of volunteers who offer their time selflessly for the benefit of the community in Epsom & Ewell.

Volunteering responsibilities ranged from working with vulnerable families in Epsom & Ewell, supporting elderly clients at retirement clubs and visually impaired residents to mentoring young people and bereavement care.

Nominations also came in from a variety of organisations through the Borough including Talking Newspaper, the Social Centres, Epsom Horticultural Association and Epsom and Ewell Citizens Advice Bureau.
