This Sunday, Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, together with a range of partners, is to highlight the creation of a new Wellbeing Centre.

The Wellbeing Centre, currently under construction, will open this summer. It will focus on enhancing well-being and supporting independent living, offering a host of services and activities from counselling, when life becomes overwhelming, to a simple cup of tea (when that’s all that’s needed)!

Residents and others are invited to visit some of the team pulling together this initiative in the Market Place, Epsom between 10.00 and 16.00 on Sunday 26 May.

Situated as part of the Longmead Community Centre, the Wellbeing Centre will be run by Epsom & Ewell Borough Council with funding and support from Surrey County Council and other agencies. All activities will be available on a self-referral basis, with no need to inform anyone else.

Councillor Jean Steer, Chairman of the Epsom & Ewell Borough Council Social Committee said “Our health and wellbeing are central components for a happy life. Often the daily grind means that our wellbeing is neglected or even taken for granted and it is only when things start to go wrong that we look for solutions. The Epsom & Ewell Wellbeing Centre will be the place to go to for help and guidance”.

Dr Aalia Khan from the NHS Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group said “The Clinical Commissioning Group is committed to support the development of Wellbeing Centres in its catchment area. Our patients will have access to a whole range of services and information on learning to live well and independently, with the help of health, social and voluntary care agencies working together closely. We look forward to working closely with Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to achieve this through the Wellbeing Centre”.

The Wellbeing Centre is an initiative of Surrey County Council and Epsom & Ewell Borough Council with partners including Appleby House, Surrey Borders NHS Clinical Trust, Age Concern Epsom, Age UK and the Alzheimer's Society.
