The Prime Minister will be receiving a card designed by a budding six-year-old Ashtead artist this Christmas.

Chris Grayling MP asked junior and infant schools in Epsom and Ewell to design his official Christmas card this year - which will be sent to the likes of David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

He visited Epsom’s University for the Creative Arts (UCA) last Friday, November 9, where vice-chancellor, Dr Simon Ofield-Kerr, lent his expertise to help judge the entries and select the winning design alongside Mr Grayling.

Emily Reeh, 6, who attends Barnett Wood Infant School, in Ashtead, was crowned the winner, and Daisy Potts, 10, a pupil at Epsom Downs Primary School, was named runner-up.

Mr Grayling said: "I am delighted to announce Emily as the worthy winner of my Christmas card competition.

"I was really impressed with the high level of entries we received and it was a difficult decision to choose an overall winner.  Thank you to all the schools and pupils who participated."

Dr Ofield-Kerr added:  "The winning designs were all very strong and there are a number of budding artists and graphic designers we need to keep our eye for the future.

"It was very good to welcome the Secretary of State back to UCA Epsom, and to have the opportunity of discussing with him Epsom's potential and ambition to become a centre for the creative industries serving London and the South East."
