St Mark’s Church in Tattenhams has had a wonderful idea for Christmas. They are having a KNITIVITY!

St Mark’s Church

The  'KNITIVITY' will visit homes, schools, library etc in the area. Each location to host the KNITIVITY will be invited to keep a knitted sheep. So they need a lot of sheep!!

The Tattenhams Community Library knitting circle – a newly formed group which meets on Wednesdays and Mondays have come to the rescue.

But as the word has got round – more people want to join in. Other knitting groups and individuals from home.

So I have contacted St Mark’s and they have very kindly sent me the pattern.

There is a pattern for the sheep – and also for the whole nativity scene,

The KNITIVITY which is the whole display, will be visiting the Library on the first Thursday and Friday of December for the Rhyme time session and will probably stay overnight on the Thursday. It will also visit Shawley and Epsom Downs Schools.

It will come with a KNITIVITY story and those who host the KNITIVITY will be allowed to keep a sheep as a reminder that they gave hospitality to Mary, Joseph and the baby.

Hosts will also be invited to our Living Nativity and Christmas day service both of which have a sheep theme!

Hence the need for so many sheep!

Tattenhams Community Library – Knitting Group

If you cannot get to the Community Library or knit with another group or at home – your finished sheep – which will be very gratefully accepted – can be left in the porch of The Vicarage on St Mark’s Road at any time.
