We did the guided tour of the castle on a Saturday. No students around and a terrific guide. Well worth the additionsl £3. Unfortunately the weather was awful so we didn't see the gardens. Plan to visit again in better weather

A picturesque castle surrounded by beautifully kept gardens.<br><br>This place offers a lovely day out with walks that extend through the castle grounds. There is plenty to entertain both the young and the old, with a small park, benches situated throughout for peaceful rests, a rope maze, woods for exploring, a folly, a cafe, picnic benches, toilet facilities and much more.<br><br>The staff too are all knowledgeable and very friendly, which made the day that little bit more special. Thank you.<br><br>Our visiting group had a mixed age range from 8 years up to the very wise 😉. We all had a lovely time and would most definitely recommend it to others.

Shame one can't visit inside the castle but beautiful grounds to explore. Woodland at the rear wonderful. Pleasant courtyard to enjoy coffee and cake from shop. Be prepared to share with the Peacocks 😁
