I am so grateful to thebestof Eastbourne for allowing me to list my pop choirs on their website. And what a fabulous website this is too! Listing our weekly events was nice and simple, and David was so helpful and quick to respond to any questions I had. What a wonderful site this is!

The castle of William the Conqueror (William for the English) is very beautiful for its age since it dates just after 1066, his invasion. However, you will have to pay €14 to visit what remains, but it is very informative for history buffs. The visit to the village is also worth the detour.Visited on

Imposing ruined castle with a long history, starting as a Roman fort, and seeing its last defensive role in World War 2, with the hidden gun posts remaining intact to this day.
There are information boards around the site, and a handheld audio guide helps bring the ruins to life. The 16th century gun sitting on a replica carriage is particularly impressive, and it was good to see water in the moat.
There's a small gift shop, and the whole site is dog friendly. The external grounds are free to access, while up to date ticket prices for the castle are on the English Heritage website. Paid public parking is available in the village, a short walk from the castle. Staff were welcoming and helpful, so I was able to make the most of my visit despite arriving late in the day.
