Excellent place to visit. Our only drawback we were on a coach trip and needed much more time preferably a full day visit

It is always a joy to visit Herstmonceaux. The gardens change from season to season and one can walk for hours in the woods and fields. Dogs on leads are welcome and there is also a small playground and lots for children to learn about. Small cafe serving light meals, coffee, teas etc.

Great place for a day trip, the castle is a loving recreation, beautiful gardens, and the grounds around the castle are expansive and full of hidden gems which keeps you exploring.

The oldest red brick castle in England: need I say more? No. It's self-explanatory. You show up, you have a potter, you look at the gardens, you think to yourself "Wow, what must've it been like to be the owner of such a place and to have subsequently died at the supple age of 52 with gout?!".
