Not bad, but not 5 star. Only outside, no inside visiting. Garden rather "normal" then "outstanding".

Came to this Castle expecting to be able to go inside the castle having spent the same amount on entry as you would to go to a standard National trust. It was at this time when we were rudely told that the castle was only open for a private event and that even on a normal day, we wouls bot be able to enter the castle. This is not advertised on the websitr if the establishment.<br><br>On the positive side, the gardens are quite pretty and you can enter the Folly building. I particularly liked the Magic Garden and the Shaded Garden.<br><br>Parking is close to the gardens and there is a cafe which has a resisdent peacock 🦚 which was a nice surprise.

What a lovely place to be . The Castle itself cannot be visited, but the garden and the woodlands are an exceptional beauty. Now the bluebells are in bloom. The wood seems so natural and magic. And the old Chestnuttrees are from another world.

We arrived early for a lecture so took the opportunity to stroll in the stunning gardens . The statues ,sculptures and plants were stunning and fun to seek out . The staff were helpful and polite with lovely hospitality .

I went to the castle in spite of it being closed,hoping to view the exterior and surrounding green areas..However this is one of the places you are prevented from getting any nearer than 1000 metres..Due to fences and barriers..l went to have a pint at a pub instead to console myself on wasted effort
