Booking the hotel on bookings.com after reading the reviews on trip advisor.
It certainly lived up to our expectations. All the staff very friendly and our room had a great view of the pier and most important the sea.
Definitely worth a return visit.
Excellent value for money.

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip. The hotel is clean and well run in a good location for the beach etc. I had a single room at a very cheap rate. In terms of value for money it is a good deal. However my room was small and a little shabby. Breakfast is the usual fare. For a budget traveller this is clearly a good hotel. It seems mainly geared up to coach groups and an elder clientele though.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff.
We had been advised to sit in Row J on the phone booking hotline and it didn't disappoint upon arrival. We had good sightlines and lots of leg room.

Myself and my daughter love going to the theatre, although sometimes it can work out expensive. The hippodrome is very reasonable and all the productions I have seen here whether it be professional or amateur have all been very well put together and enjoyable. Lovely little theatre, although a bit dated it is comfortable enough and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We took our 4 year old grandson to see The First Hippo On The Moon by David Walliams. The show was brilliant & very entertaining. The puppet animals were excellent, as were the cast. We al thoroughly enjoyed the show & we had one very happy Grandson.

Absolutely brilliant show. I loved it as much as my 5&3 yr olds and would happily watch it again. This show is great for young children.

A lovely old theatre, with a great play and great performers. A real treat. I would highly recommend both the show and indeed the theatre.

The Hippodrome is a lovely little theatre, well-staffed by friendly people. Two issues to keep in mind, though, if you're going to see "First Hippo". One, is that the area around the theatre is a bit seedy, which makes for a slightly downbeat arrival on a cold winter's day. (Don't let that stop you, though: it's nice when you get inside). The second point is more important: "First Hippo" feels like a work in progress - maybe prior to London? The actors work hard and some of the effects are imaginative. But there's a lot of standing around on stage explaining things - which leads a fair bit of tedium in the first half at least; and the themes never quite manage to gel: is it pure, crazy fantasy or are they genuinely trying to explain the calorific value of poo? (That'll make sense when you're there). Sometimes, too, cartoon cut-outs wrongly stand in for real actors so there's a sense of drama sacrificed in the interests of speed or cost. And the singing is average at best: or maybe it's the songs. It picks up towards the end; and those poo-bits are genuinely funny. We took one five-year-old and a nearly-three-year-old. The younger one was more enthusiastic about it later. Do go, it may improve; but maybe pack some goodwill, and don't expect more than a certain amount of fun.
