Does the job for a cheap hotel stay. Hotel is in a great location, has a bar, restaurant and friendly staff. Inexpensive & decent sized double rooms. Rooms were very outdated, bathroom looked like it hadn’t been renovated for 20 years. There were patches on the ceilings/walls from damp or leaks and there was bird poo on the inside of the curtains. Only 3 plug sockets and none near the bed which wasn’t ideal.

Generally a good hotel for a short stay. Location and generally friendly helpful staff. Frontage looks a bit tired in places and could do with some TLC & maid for some unknown reason didn’t clean our room…

Central location, opposite Pier. Greeted by a very pleasant, helpful receptionist, Shelby. Good, comprehensive breakfast buffet, well cooked and sensibly presented. Good value. Tired, dated, building over 5 floors but with only one tiny lift working. Claimed to facilitate 4 people but carried a weight limit of 300Kg. Clearly intended for Lowry Stick People. Fortunately, from a safety perspective, it would hold only 3 of a larger 2026 stature and only 2 with luggage! At busier times, it is not a hotel suited to those who would struggle with stairs. The non-working lift appeared that it might be slightly larger but, if so, not by much. I stupidly stepped into the shower without pre-checking shower-gel dispenser. It was empty! Clearly something which had been ignored by housekeeping. I also slipped in the bath shower, gashing my head, before realising that housekeeping had left a non-slip in-bath mat rolled in the bedroom wardrobe. Why would it not be left in the bathroom? The hotel offered good value but was largely chosen as it also offered on-site parking. Would we stay there again? Despite pleasent staff, adequately furnished rooms and clear efforts to clean and service a tired building....... No!

Perfect location for accessing local facilities and attractions. The staff were very attentive give and helpful. Service was always provided with a smile. The property is dated but there are still small snippets of the former glory of this hotel.

The Victorian feel of the hotel.. excellent breakfast.
Good quality food. Perfect location for the sea front and town.
Some rooms are in desperate need of updating.
The hotel is in constant maintenance because of its age. Built-in 1850.

- great location near sea front
- not far to walks on South Downs
- friendly staff who are happy to help
- cost of staying
- I enjoyed my stay and would stay again
- no housekeeping during 3 day stay. Whilst it didn’t bother me, it might others not having bins emptied or towels replaced
