Just returned from a fabulous week at the Burlington, Eastbourne. First experience on a Shearings Turkey and Tinsel, not sure what to expect but we weren't disappointed.
The hotel was beautifully decorated up for Christmas, very tastefull and nice. The room was only a basic room (no upgrade) but it was spacious, clean, had matching decor and had been recently refurbished (228) , perfectly adequate for anyone. The meals were good although we were a little disappointed to be seated in the annex so felt apart from the rest of our group.
Our driver, Tony 2 Teds was excellent , knowledgable and funny.
The hotel staff were friendly and cheerful. The entertainer/compare , Mark Snow, is a real asset to the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our evenings with him, the best hotel entertainment we have had for a long time.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and holiday.

Enjoyed a pleasant few days at the Burlington organised by Shearings Holidays. Agood sized room with a great view of the promenade and pier perhaps the windows would benefit from some repair as the wind was quite noisy. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas, and the entertainment was generally quite good; Mark was great entertainment, just a pity he was only there 2 of the evenings. The food was o.k could have been hotter at some meals. the only down was the 'afternoon Tea' which was a cup of tea and a mince pie - not what we expected. The coach ride was quite long, but not unpleasant.
overall a pleasant holiday

Had a very good time. Beautifully decorated public rooms and a good bedroom. Food quite good and had a free afternoon tea one afternoon and wine one evening. Also managed to get in the car park but had to pay for it.

We took a friend on the 'Turkey and Tinsel' four day break. Our friend has problems so it was important for us to be close to him. Unfortunately they did not give us next door rooms, but they were fairly close. The rooms were very pleasant and clean and comfortable. The meals were pleasant enough, although not fine dining, but for the price it was good value. He enjoyed the entertainment and every effort seemed to be made to create a pleasant atmosphere. No real complaints, except for the weather, and we could not blame the hotel for that. I would recommend this hotel, particularly for a themed break.

We had a long weekend through Shearings. The room was dated, particularly the bathroom and the floor boards squeaked terribly. The room was very hot despite turning the radiator off and the french doors were stuck tight so the only way of getting any ventilation in was to open the main door. The food was good with a choice for all tastes and the staff very friendly. The bar / entertainment area was spacious but with a wall right in the middle which separated the dance floor from the rest and unless you rushed to get a seat early you had no chance of being near the entertainment. The staff were friendly but the choice of beers limited and generally expensive (as you'd expect) so we went out in the evenings.

Well organised reception. Dining room and food more than satisfying. Paying extra for sea view recommended. It was unfortunate our room was over lounge so a bit noisy but stopped at reasonable time.
Staff friendly and helpful. Entertainment very good and nothing but praise for Mark.

My friend and I spent last weekend at Turkey and Tinsel here. It was wonderful from start to finish. We were warmly and efficiently greeted and despatched to our room - 219 - a room to be recommended! A good size twin room with shower (as requested) and, being on a corner, windows to front and side, overlooking the sea and gardens. Lovely and bright; clean and comfortable; neutrally decorated, with plenty of storage and generous supplies for making hot drinks. Our beds were comfortable for both of us, with duvets and white linen bedding. Blankets were available if required - which they weren't because the temperature in the rooms is kept very high within the hotel. Everyone said so!

The public rooms were all big, bright, clean and comfortable, with plenty of seating. The dining ng room likewise. Being Turkey and Tinsel, Christmas trees and festive decorations were all around, which added to the cheery atmosphere.

We had no complaints with any of our evening meals, with plenty of choice, a varied selection of vegetables, all served hot and with more than adequate portions. Breakfasts were great and - once again - plentiful. Five stars for the porridge and five+ stars for the excellent waiting staff. The flexible dining times were a bonus.

The seafront location is ideal for long walks along the prom, and also gives easy access to the large shopping centre and bus stops to Hastings or Brighton.

Why not a full 5 rating? The corridors I used do need a paint up and the carpets need a clean. The rooms are kept too hot. Smokers can use the outside porch which leads straight into a public sitting area and the rancid cigarette smell comes in.

Overall, though, a great stay. Congratulations to the management and staff.

My wife and I had a T & T at Shearings Burlington Hotel. We had been before. It has begun to look decoratively a bit jaded especially in our Bathroom ,where I thought I had ordered a walk in Shower, but found we had an over the bath shower. I complained bitterly about the black mould on a few of the wall tiles and somebody came up and attempted to remove it. I do think 2.30 is quite late to be allowed into your room. With four coach loads of people the Restaurant staff were over stretched. The Entertainment Lounge is of a shape that you cannot see what is going on in parts, so people chatter and annoy others and there is a rush from Dinner to get seats.
Father Christmas came one afternoon, rang a bell, sat down while photos were taken and then walked off.
I see from other reviews some people had squeaky floors, I pittied the people below us.
The food was excellent as was our Waitress Miriam. Shame about the Weather

I visited the Burlington Hotel between 28 November and 1 December with my elderly father, what a treat it was. On arrival following a long train journey we were greeted by friendly staff on reception and given a complimentary glass of mulled wine to warm us up. On Saturday night we had a lovely Christmas Meal with a generous helping of lean and not dry Turkey, together with a complimentary glass of wine. During our stay, the room staff, waitresses and reception team were helpful, friendly and most efficient, nothing was too much trouble for them. The room we had was warm, comfortable and spacious. The short break was relaxing, stressfree and well worth the journey, it was also excellent value for money. Thank You Very Much (we have already booked another holiday for next year, roll on 2015).
