The Royal Hippodrome Theatre is in a great location close to the town centre with comfortable seating and a fabulous view of the stage from all locations. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive and happy to answer any questions you may have. There is a bar area serving hot, cold and alcoholic drinks and all areas of the theatre were clean and tidy.

This is a lovely venue to see a show and well worth a visit.

I grew up in eastbourne but had never been to the royal hippodrome theatre before. I visit four or five times a year to visit relatives and saw this was on over the festive period so booked Boxing Day. What a treat. The theatre is lovely. A lot of work has gone into restoration and more (and money) is needed. However, a really lovely experience, comfortable seats and there is a bar, everything like the Devonshire Park theatre up the road, but on a small scale. The Royal Hippodrome theatre group put on a fabulous show. Acting, singing, music, scenery, costumes etc., all very well done. We had a lovely time and will look out for shows that coincide with visits in future.

Went to see Miranda Hart with my daughter. It was amazing!!! It was her warm up tour and she was fab. The Theatre is very nostalgic. It is like going back in time. Unfortunately we were both sitting behind a pillar and struggled to see but in the interval we managed to move seats. We weren't near the front but we could see and hear everything very clearly. The seats were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I have now booked to go and see another show early in the New Year!!!

Travelled down to eastbourne from Reading to meet up with my family to watch this fantastic show in an amazing hidden gem of a theatre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only criticism would be that it was rather chilly inside that did affect how my elderly grandparents enjoyed the show - although it should be noted the heating was on, just its so big and old that maybe turn it on earlier to heat it up for longer?
Now the show....FANTASTIC with the stand out star of the show being the actress playing the role of Betty, played by Meghan Rayner. However the entire cast were brilliant and made for an enjoyable and feel good christmas experience. On til 4th Jan 2013 and highly recommend both the show and the theatre.

We went to the theatre on the last night of the variety show . The show was brilliant from start to finish. The singing and dancing was very professional even the kids. The comedy had my sides aching with Grant Martins superb. If there are trapdoor productions dont miss them

Took the whole family to see Gary Delaney last weekend. Everything, and I mean everything, from the show to the theatre itself to the bar staf to the volunteers who ran the whole thing was top-notch.

Considering this place is the oldest in town, it still looks amazing. This is due to the hard work of the team that runs it. Yes, there are a few things still to do but if you're feeling generous and drop a quid or two into the bucket on the way out, you can help.

A low-stress, even family-style ambiance will leave you feeling well looked after, and you'll leave the place with happy memories and the feeling that you've contributed in some small way to the continued existence of this piece of Eastbourne history.

The sort of shows they put on with what has to ba limited budget is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Sign up to their mailing list and never miss a show again. Oh, and panto season is coming up soon (oh yes it is)!

Our first visit to this theatre....much better than I had expected. A lovely Victorian theatre ( the oldest in Eastbourne): plenty of leg-room between comfortable seats. Although showing signs of age ( whilst awaiting sufficient funds to renovate), the theatre is clean and well run. The toilets are clean, as is the bar. The volunteer staff are eager to please. There is no car park.
