Lovely old hotel. Friendly staff and very welcoming also to the dog. Room was a bit shabby but clean. Although a double it was 2 singles pushed together. Tiny balcony, could do with a coat of paint as it was rusty, but dog enjoyed it. Full English breakfast was excellent value. Location also excellent as it was by the pier and was surprisingly quiet. Overall very good value especially as it is dog friendly and we would stay again. Parking was hit and miss but would be a nightmare in summer!!!

We Have stayed at the Afton 3 times and have found it very goodvalue for money. It’s clean, friendly and very convenient to all the local amenities. The breakfast is always sufficient. Parking has never been a problem, as they surply a parking permit.

We got a very cheap deal on Groupon so can't really complain. We have stayed here before so know the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Room very small but bed comfy. Overlooking the sea but very noisy Monday morning. No double glazing. Shower awful. No water pressure and faced across the cubicle instead of down. Breakfast on first morning was lovely but by third morning was awful. Nowhere to park though that's not the hotel's fault. Would stay again but not put up with the shower next time.

Ok for a night away close to town n seafront. Good breakfast. Room needs updating as carpet had holes in. Staff nice n friendly. Bathroom very small. No little extras like bottled water or toiletries.

The location of this hotel is great just a few steps from the pier. It is quite an old hotel and a bit tired and would benefit from a refurb but the staff were friendly and welcoming. We paid £38 per room (without breakfast) which was a bargain. You can get a parking permit for £1 which lasts 24 hours so that’s good too.

This was a half-price wowcher deal and was excellent value for money. The hotel is located right on the seafront and I was given a room with a view of the pier- an unexpected bonus, plus a voucher for a free drink in the bar. Parking was easy too as the hotel can supply permits to park on the seafront for only £1 a day. The room itself had everything I needed and was very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I'd have no hesitation in choosing the Afton again.

For the money you cannot complain exceedingly good value, didnt have a meal as were going to Theatre but good places nearby to get food.
Only down side, unable to get a drink after 10.00 pm which was comnented on by a few guests and no staff seemingly on site either after 10.00 but that aside nice hotel

I chose this hotel as good price and dog friendly, but no water bowl in bar / reception.

The reception staff were very friendly, and my whole experience generally fine. Hotel is small, and near the pier. Parking by permit, helped from hotel, was very efficient, once you found a spot.
My room faced the back, but as I had not paid extra for a sea view, that was not a problem, which gave me a subtle view of an english urban seaside town in spring.

Good bed, huge controlable radiator and my facilities in room included a case stand and little tea bar bar- but would have been nice to have a larger mug (or teapot) as the teabags provided made a strong brew of tea in the coffee sized cups.

Nice to have a coat hook on back of door, or above radiator, as if it was wet would have had to leave it on back of my chair or in large wardrobe in room.
Chair, Desk, Mirror,Tv and kettle in room, nice bathroom, but had a fixed shower- which would make soap wash off in use if I was larger, but as I managed to stand to one side to lather up properly and shampoo my hair, I avoided this problem.

Dog was excellent, Room quiet, no problems and other dogs had stayed at same time as well.
At breakfast - I was placed to one side, but that was not a problem, except it would be nice to arrive and see a menu of choice available at the door (or on the table), but it was all pretty obvious to me except for what the juices were on the table , or for what had nuts or others problems for people with with allergy's.

Had 2 weetabix with milk, tea followed by the fried Breakfast which I found small but adequate for me (as I have diabetes) but some visitors may be dissapointed with the size of the Full " English breakfast. So I had more toast and tea, to end my meal and can say the service was polite, quick and friendly.

My Worst problem was not the hotel but finding a pub in all of EASTBOURNE to meet my friend for his birthday and get a meal with a drink - with the dog. Even the Weatherspoons did not appear to welcome dogs, while I can go to nearby Westham and all 3 pubs in villlage allow dog owners in to spend money.

So Hotel very good value, nice for well behaved dog (paid reasonable premium of £10 a night), staff friendly - would happily stay again in off season. The bar closed early, but there was a pool table - so not sure about it when it gets really busy. Would need to try it but I will award just one out of ten for Eastbournes attitude to friendly dog pubs.
