My friend and I have just returned from this fantastic weekend in Eastbourne. Malcolm our driver was a mine of information on so many subjects. On arrival the girls on reception were so friendly, as they were the whole weekend. Bruno our waiter was so helpful, nothing too much trouble for him, the lady next to us was on a gluten free diet and he was great with her requirements. Mark Snow the entertainments manager is a really lovely guy, with a lovely singing voice. Fri nights entertainment was brilliant, Christopher Gee, impressionist and comedians, he was so funny, better than a lot of impressionists on tv, his Eric Morecambe, Benny Hill and Del Boy to mention a few were spot on. Sat night was singer and saxophinist Rick Bonner, brilliant, also the bar staff danced to Music Man, so funny, so brave, on both these nights Mark also had people on their feet dancing, I have never seen so many people on the dance floor on these Party weekends, usually after the bingo people disappear, not at the Burlington. Marco the magician was also excellent on Sunday. Jo and I agreed this is the best entertainment to date in a Shearings hotel. Malcolm took us on an excursion to Battle and Rye, I was so pleased we had time in Battle, fulfilled one of my wishes to visit the Abbey, and see the 1066 site of the Battle of Hastings, even the driving rain did not deter us, and then a lovely lunch in Rye. Bedrooms were really comfortable and warm (select your own temperature on radiator)
Breakfasts excellent, something for everyone, the only down side on evening meals were the vegetables, quantity and overcooked. 4 drinks vouchers each on Sat evening, made this the perfect weekend . Great location opposite the Pier and a short walk into town. Well done Shearings

Travelled with Shearings by coach to Eastbourne on Sunday 30th December 2012. We were there for New Year Celebrations. We had a fantastic time the rooms were a little tierd but you only sleep in them. The food was excellant plenty of choice for all courses and the plates were hot. All the staff were good not one sour face among them all very happy to do anything you asked. We even had afternoon tea on two afternoons which weren't on the itinery tea or coffee, mince pies or shortbread and a couple of quizzes. The entertainment was good on all nights the best being on New Years Day it was one of the drifters he was very good sang all the classic's from the 60/70's. Would certainly go back for New Year. In Feburary we are going to Lake Como with Shearings will let you know how that was.

If you want gourmet cuisine and sophisticated entertainment then this is not the place for you but we had a great time on an extremely cheap weekend break with friends. The bedrooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and look as if they have been recently refurbished. The bathroom was rather dated and unusually down a flight of steps from the bedroom.

The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.

The food is pretty dire and the front door of the hotel often blocked by smokers.

I would rather pay a little more and have a better standard of food but this would not stop me returning as apart of a group.

We had booked a 3 night week-end break but due to bad weather forcast, phoned and arrived the evening before. The reception staff were really helpfull and efficient.
The break was advertised as a party week-end and that's exactly what it was.The food and entertainment was really good, all staff were excellent, from the waitresses/waiters to bar staff all happy and eager to make it a very enjoyable stay. We all had a great time. For a budget weekend break you couldn't fault it, they even gave vouchers for 4 free drinks each.

Good value for money for a short break in winter. The food is of reasonable quality and the location is great. The hotel is very much in need of renovation in public areas apart from the front conservitory which has been renovated. Parking in the hotel Car Park can be difficult when the hotel is busy.

My husband and I have just returned from 5 days in Eastbourne with National Holidays, the cost of the holiday was £99 which was good value as it included coach travel, dinner, bed and breakfast and two excursion. The hotel was situated on the sea front and was just a short walk to the shopping centre. The rooms were tired and old, every floor board creaked in the bedroom and the bathroom, I thought the people in the room above were going to come through the ceiling. The decor made the room look dirty, the ceiling looked as if it had a recent coat of paint. Traveling down in the coach took all day as, we left Bradford Interchange at 7-20 Monday morning and arrived at the hotel at 16-00, we picked up at Halifax then Huddersfield and Barnsley. We then went on to Woodhall Services where we all changed coaches one to Torquay, one to Newquay and ours to Eastbourne, that was 3 hours to just outside Sheffield!!!! And we did the same in reverse coming back!!! It just added hours onto the trip and I think National Holidays should get their act together and try and come up with something better than that. The driver of the coach was called Tony and he did a good job and was very pleasant.

We have just returned from 5 days 4 nights at the Burlington Hotel. The hotel is situated opposite the pier in a very good location to the shopping centre..The hotel its self is like a number of Shearing hotels where parts need to be refurbished but at the end of the day for what we paid you get value for money. The food was adequate the hotel clean and staff hardworking and helpful. If you are self drive there is a multi storey car park nearby or the hotel has its own at the rear wwhich there is a charge. The entertainment is good each night and Mark works hard to ensure you have a good time. All told very enjoyable holiday.
