We were a mixed age group of sixteen people to celebrate my Mother in laws 80th birthday. The location was great, opposite the pier and just around the corner from the shopping centre. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Damian,Maria and Mouse (I think). The food was good and plentiful with a small supplement for a steak or king prawns etc. The standard rooms are a little tired, but clean and fantastic value for 3 nights half board. Well done to all.

we wanted a week so we had to go Fri-Mon then Mon -Fri..My niggle is the menu.....We had the meals repeated...that said, if the person who didn't want scampi and roast potatoes there were other choices ..and reasonably priced chips which we had , one portion would be ample for two, as we found out.
We upgraded to premier and had a lovely room the bath and separate shower, fantastic.
Staff were friendly and hard working ..Bruno our waiter was superb.A special mention for Matt ...you've got a brilliant bar manager there.
Get wifi and things can only get better.

We were on a coach trip with 12 friends, and were apprehensive about coch hotels, but we were pleasantly surprised with the Burlington. Service was good, and the staff very friendly. I had a broken foot, so couldn't walk far on crutches. We'd asked for a room near the lift, which we were given. The room was a large room, and although a little dated, was perfectly comfortable. On the bath was a hand rail for getting in and out of the shower, which was a boon for me. The dining room was large and airy, and although the tables were in twos and fours, the staff made sure we had a table set up for 12, which was appreciated.

First impressions of the hotel were not good. The car park was not properly surfaced and the rear of the hotel was shabby and in need of a coat of paint. Some of the public areas were in serious need of refurbishment with badly chipped paintwork and carpet that appeared to have been patched with sticky plastic tape. The two lifts were very small and totally inadequate for the size of the hotel.
On the positive side our room was clean and furnished to a good standard with good facilities the only downside to the room was the very creaky floorboards. The staff were excellent and the food very good.
If the condition of the hotel matched the quality quality of the food and the service provided by the staff I would have been happy to give it a five star rating, as it is I can only give thre stars.

My husband myself and two older sisters went for a short 4 day break.
We booked rooms on the front and were very pleased with the lovely position and view, however my sisters room, 212 needed severe renovation and had a very dangerous carpet, it was all torn and had lots of ripples in it.
My main worry was that as the recipient of a triple hip operation, she would fall and do greater damage so we bought a small rug tto cover it up.
Very bad for a hotel catering in mainly older clients
Our room 207 was very small but adequate and could also have done with renovations.
Both had very squeeky floorboards which woke us whenever the people above walked across them.
The waiter Daniel was very efficient, polite and made us feel very special, in fact he added to the pleasure of our small break.

The hired cabaret entertainment could have been better but Mark was very good and we found him very funny and approachable
All in all a good holiday with good food and friendly staff but if you go don't forget to take a face cloth as unlike most Shearings they are NOT provided.

I stayed here with my daughter and two granddaughters age 15 and 12. Food both at breakfast and dinner was suitable for all of us - plenty of choice and excellent portions of good quality.

Rooms very large and very clean.

Hotel is in an excellent position - right opposite the pier and promenade. Excellent bus service to Hastings or Brighton. Recommend going into the Brighton Pavilion - well worth the entrance fee as you get to go into many of the rooms which are fabulous.

Just returned from eastbourne, the hotel is currently being partly refurbished, i say partly because our room had a new bath, but a scratched sink and toilet, new carpet in bedroom and on corridors, freshly painted, workmen currently doing floor 2 .
The staff were very friendly and the food was good apart from the frozen fish and chips, why cant you get decent fish at the seaside.?.
Most shearings hotels seem a bit tired, but for what you pay, i think they are ok, trouble is we are used to going abroad and having 5 star luxury, but you pay a lot more.
Overall the holiday was very good, and Tony the driver was a mine of information and made the holiday more interesting.

The hotel is currently undergoing some re decoration of the corridors . The room I had (single) was adequate but rather tired, the food was very good and the waitress Erika very efficient. Bar service not so good, very slow. Entertainment mixed...bingo most nights!! The position of the hotel on the promenade opposite the pier was ideal and I enjoyed a leisurely walk down to Holywell then caught the mini train back. My parents who are in their 80s were also at this hotel and had a seaview room which was ideal for them as they are unable to walk very far but could still enjoy the sea and garden views and the fresh air from the windows in their room. The worst aspect of the hotel was the lifts.....very small and only two for the entire hotel, bearing in mind that the majority of guests were elderly and some quite infirm it caused problems at meal times and on arrival and departure days.
