First of all the food here is fab can’t fault that at all
I felt a bit let down that I complained about my room and the lady at reception couldn’t move us ,so my mum complained and they moved us both, maybe I was too polite
This hotel needs a Very Big Update and Soon
We have stayed in many hotels but unfortunately it’s like faulty towers
I do hope that in the near future that it gets a good update on some rooms ,don’t know about the sea views didn’t have one

Also no entertainment only on Thursdays/Saturdays what a shame could of had entertainment on other nights too
No bingo

The lifts 1 working and the other 1 Not was not that great
So please do give this hotel TLC then the rewards would be great 👍

Stayed here for 2 nights 13-14 September and booked thru booking.com. Paid £71 per room per night b&b. When we checked in, we asked to look at the room and also asked if seaview room was available. We looked at both the room allocated (which was very dark and dismal at back of hotel) and a seaview, no comparison! It was lovely, light and airy, particularly as it was a sunny day. We chose to upgrade (£25 per room per night). The hotel itself does definitely need an overhaul and is very tired looking. New carpets throughout and a lick of paint everywhere could work wonders. Cleaning could be improved but bedding and towels were ok. To have just 1 lift is impractical and was shabby. Found staff to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, not Michelin star but adequate. I didn’t eat hot breakfast but my friends all said it was fine. Not huge selection of hot but for what we paid, cannot complain. Cereal, toast, croissants as well as plain yoghurt and summer berry compote (probably frozen), all of which was ok. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would say good value for what we paid. We would stay here again if we were in Eastbourne and in seaview room

Lovely spacious room... Not the cleanest. Decor tired. Bath and shower tiles not cleaned properly. Towels not changed as requested or water and coffee etc not refilled. Window didn't open. Dining room cramped and older waiter a bit grumpy whereas the younger male cheerful and chatty. Breakfast disappointing... Not the usual selection we've had before. Overpriced now

The Burlington had some mixed reviews which made us a little apprehensive but we had an absolutely fantastic stay and would not hesitate to book again. It was excellent value for money for a lovely room with a sea view. The room had a warm, cosy feel and was very clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we both slept well. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The bar has a lovely sea view, Ethan and Danielle were polite, humorous and played some perfect tunes for a sunny afternoon. The breakfast was a buffet and had everything you would need. Alberto was so helpful in recommending a table and quickly cleaned it for us as the previous guests left.
Highly recommended from us and we will definitely be staying again. Many thanks to all for making our rare stay away perfect!

Ok, good bits first.
The staff are exceptional, very helpful, always have a smile on their faces and you can see they genuinely enjoy working at The Burlington. If they don't, they cover it up well 🤣.

I went half board. Although the breakfast was a bit sparce and not much variety compared to places like Premier Inn, non the less, it was tasty and hot, and you could go up for 2nds. The evening meal was a set menu. There was a good variety of options and the food was excellent. I found it very tasty and wholesome, and it was a decent plate size too.

Location is superb, you could literally throw a stone and it would land on the beach. Plenty of shops and places to eat within a 5 min walk.

Dog friendly, which works brilliantly for me because I love to take my little travelling buddy wherever I go.

The not so great bits......

The owner is obviously happy to let this once grand hotel fall to ruin. The saying "you can't polish a turd" comes to mind. You can't put pretty pictures up and introduce new furniture to areas of the hotel, including the rooms without actually decorating first!?

My room was in desperate need of an overhaul. No fancy pictures or new "basic" furniture is going to excuse the fact that the bathroom was still living in the 1980s with the original limescale by the looks of things.

The was wallpaper desperately trying to get away from the wall, the bed was as comfy as a z bed your Nan used to have. The carpet was looking sorry for itself, no wonder with the amount of stains on it, I'm glad I had my slippers with me!

The head house keeper really needs to up their game and make sure the cleaners are actually cleaning ( yes that includes getting rid of limescale)

To be fair to the cleaners though, if the rooms look run down, it doesn't give you much inspiration to go that extra mile.

Overall, a decent experience, but with the state of my room, it was only worth £25 to £30 a night.

I hope the owner reads these reviews, and puts more effort into this hotel. After all, it was probably extremely grand and lovely in its day, it just needs the extra love and care to bring it back to life.

I had a terrific, excellent-value four-night stay at Eastbourne’s Burlington (helped by unseasonal good weather). Yes, the once-grand hotel has definitely seen better days, but my room was fine (delighted to have a bath as well as a shower), the breakfasts perfectly adequate, the bar prices good, the staff friendly and helpful and there's plenty of sea-view seating in the public rooms. It’s centrally located, with the beach directly opposite and the train station/Towner art gallery/theatres only a 10min walk away. As long as you aren’t too fussy about decor, for a cheap, cheerful, relaxing, no-frills seaside break I highly recommend it.

Fantastic staff. And entertainment.food good.and choice x4. Room dusty everywhere.cleaned remote. Back of TV. Window sills. Think maybe housekeeping have lost their spark. Damp on wall. Bathroom dated.couldnt open window. No extractor. Shower head needs cleaning.plug in oil heater
for warmth. Lack of plugs. Noise most of day into early hours. Banging doors.. Bar area up to date and decorated for Christmas which was nice. As was the dining area. But one lift working and needs updating. The stairs /bedrooms need a serious overall. And then you are charged six pound per night to park. The staff of the hotel are the asset here. And need a pat on the back. There are no games etc for children. And the pier is closed during winter. So limited. I had one of the best curries at this hotel.
