Had a three day break in this hotel for Easter. Everything was perfect. Excellent food and entertainment. Staff so friendly and helpful. Was upgraded to a sea view room free of charge. This hotel is a credit to hearings. Rooms perfect.

Stayed in this hotel 27th March for my 67th birthday. We must say it was a lovely weekend, weather was awful but that's not the fault of the hotel. rooms were clean and tidy. food was very good and George our waiter was excellent as was all of the staff. The entertainment was excellent,
and the compere was one hell of a nice man, you could tell he enjoyed his job and did it to a high standard. We would recommend this hotel.

This hotel has a great location, right on the promenade. Parking is available for a small fee. The hotel is very clean and the rooms were spacious - more than enough space for two and includes a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The bar was well stocked and entertainment appeared varied. I only ate breakfast here which was good - plenty of hot and cold choices. I heard that the evening meal was lovely.

However, what prompted me to write this review was the staff. I've never known such fantastic service in any business, let alone the hotel industry. My parents had been staying here the week before but, due to a medical emergency, my Dad had to extend his stay (hence the reason for my visit). The staff went above and beyond anything we could have expected to help my Dad and any family staying there. Nothing was too much trouble and I cannot thank the staff enough. In particular, Christine and Mary were superb. Thank you so, so much.

Having booked via Laterooms at £35 for B&B, the hotel is very easy to find (sat nav works) and the car park - which has CCTV - is situated in the road at the back of the hotel which runs parallel to Grand Parade. The rear entrance to the hotel is across the road from the car park and saves you taking your luggage all the way around to the front. I was greeted by a young lady (I believe her name was Claudia) who was really courteous and helpful and booked me in promptly.

My immediate impression of the hotel was that it was like stepping back in time, especially when taking the lift which still had an old 'metal trellis' door!. It was also quite clear that my friends' description of the hotel was pretty accurate inasmuch that it was likely to be full of 'newly weds and nearly deads'!.

HOWEVER, although some of the decor is very 'tired', you can see that the place has still retained some of its' old charm and I fully expected Max Miller to be the cabaret for the evening!. The room (234) was large, but a bit dark and dingy, with an old TV and rippled carpet, but most importantly, it was CLEAN. There was some kind of bullet hole in the sink which was cracked but, again, you can't help but forgive the old place. I have stayed in many 'modern' hotels where despite more modern fittings, at least everything in this room worked!.

Breakfast was laid out beautifully and a waiter showed me to my table. The service was excellent and exceptionally prompt. I only had 30 minutes before I needed to leave but my full English offering arrived in less than 10 minutes, and very good it was too.

The hotel is also perfectly situated for shopping and a good stroll along the pier or seafront, and I would definitely stay here again. For the price I paid, it was superb value for money.

Went with shearings coach holidays, hotel was clean and most importantly was nice and warm, unlike the royal in Whitby which was very cold, check in was quick, and first impression of the room, was that the bathroom was a bit tired, having said that there was always plenty hot water, the room was very clean and tidy, the heating was on so it was lovely and warm, food was quite nice on most nights with a choice of menu, breakfasts were a little hit and miss in the mornings as some mornings food was not cooked properly, some mornings it was fine , the entertainment was brilliant thanks to MARK, who worked very hard to ensure everyone had a good time, all in all a very enjoyable holiday, will certainly be back again

I have just returned from a 4 night self drive break at this hotel with my sister and brother in law. I had a nice refurbished double room with very comfortable bed. The room was very clean and had been refurbished to a fairly high standard. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and the service was good considering the amount of people in the dining room at the same time. The dinner menu was quite varied and also catered for vegetarians.

The entertainment was good and Mark the resident entertainer does a good job in supporting the different acts who perform and providing entertainment himself.

The only criticism I have of Shearings is that there were no single rooms left when I booked so I had to pay for two people with no discount for the double room because I was on my own. It would have been nice to have been given a small discount as I was paying for meals for two people.

Nice hotel, friendly staff.
Wheelchair access could be easier, you have to ask to be let in through the restaurant fire exit door. Lift will JUST take a wheelchair, other lift is too small for a wheelchair.
Room was very large, with four poster bed, (premium room so did pay a surcharge, but worth it).
Food was mainly passable, except for the chili-con-carne which was tasteless, and the meat (if it was meat) was ground so small it looked like a powder. We sent that meal back.
Wifi only in public areas

Back again to the Burlington this year and again had a lovely five days. We were in an upgraded room which was very nice, however the modern wardrobe was quite small with only half the width as hanging space, ok for a few days only, but not any longer. As always the hotel staff were exceptional and everyone was polite and helpful. What had changed somewhat were the meals that all my party agreed had improved. The food was always tasty and being vegetarian I was particularly pleased, as in the past some of the meals had been quite tasteless. So well done all round, not easy when catering for so many in a short space of time.

Overall a great weekend away, the hotel is right on the front over looking the pier and flowers so a seaview room is a must, the room at the back over look the car park and backs of other hotels .Our room was clean but needed up dating carpet was badly stained and a old fashion tv .
Some of the reception staff were a bit brisk and could do with a refresher in customer service no sign of any manager or assistant over the weekend.
Food was ok service in the restaurant great our waitress a lady from Hungary was first class even remember to put marmite out for breakfast after I asked for it on the first morning.
Bar staff in the main bar were also good and went out of the way to be helpful.
all in all a good stay but as with many Bay hotels could do with updating.
One final thing book a car parking space when booking the room or if you miss out ask for the permits at reception which cost a pound a day we had to park on the road and spots were limited .
