After a horrible experience at a nearby hotel, I popped into the Afton Hotel, located right next door to the said horrible hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness and professionalism of the gentleman and lady at the reception, who were extremely sympathetic to my situation and offered me one of their available twin rooms with a bath at a very reasonable rate.
Their compassion really turned my day around 🥺
The room itself, while a bit dated, was far more spacious than I expected and even had a sea view.
It was clean and comfortable, with a TV, tea-making facilities, and basic toiletries provided.
The lack of WiFi in the room was a minor downside, but it didn’t detract much from the overall experience.
One of the highlights of the hotel was the pub, which were always occupied by mature gents & ladies, and serves reasonably priced drinks—a refreshing pint of cider was just what I needed after the stress of the whole experience at the start of my Eastbourne trip.
If you’re looking for a friendly, comfortable place to stay in Eastbourne, I highly recommend the Afton Hotel.
It’s not the most modern hotel, but the exceptionally kind and warm hosts and cosy atmosphere more than make up for it.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room was specious and clean, but the hotel looks tired. We loved the Christmas decorations, and the breakfast buffet was great. Parking is available at the back on a first come first served basis.

This is the second time that I have used Eastbourne Roofing Contractors to help identify and repair an issue with my chimney . From my first contact, and throughout the works, Carl was excellent at responding to messages and was always polite and professional. He kept appointments, updating me regarding any delays, and was quick to email an estimate of works. I would definitely recommend Carl and Eastbourne Roofing and use them again in the future if necessary.
