Robertsbridge brings the Sussex bonfire season towards its traditional finale with an atmospheric torchlit procession through the village, followed by the lighting of the bonfire and a grand fireworks display.

Bonfire Day begins early, with a traditional maroon at 7am and a Bonfire Breakfast at Robertsbridge Club from 9am to 11am. The Guy Competition is judged at 2pm before the evening celebrations begin.

The main procession sets off from the top of Station Road at approximately 7.15pm, travelling through the village before returning towards the Recreation Ground. The procession is expected to arrive at the bonfire site at around 8.30pm.

At approximately 8.45pm, Robertsbridge Bonfire Society and visiting societies gather for the traditional Bonfire Prayers before the bonfire is lit. The aerial fireworks display and effigy are scheduled for approximately 9pm. Timings are approximate and may change for safety or weather reasons.

Important information for visitors

Road closures and parking restrictions begin at 5pm and remain in place until 10pm. The closure includes Station Road, High Street, George Hill, The Clappers and Northbridge Street. Parking within the village is limited and there is no designated event car park.

The Recreation Ground itself is not open to the general public. Spectators are asked to watch from public paths and suitable viewing points around the village, including areas along The Clappers, and to follow instructions from marshals.

This is a traditional Sussex bonfire celebration involving large crowds, loud fireworks and explosive effects, smoke, ash and flying embers. Children should be supervised throughout and visitors should dress appropriately for the conditions.

The event is free to attend. Robertsbridge Bonfire Society asks visitors to support its official street collection, with money raised on Bonfire Night supporting local charities and community organisations.
