Eastbourne will commemorate the life and legacy of Paul Robeson with a special event at the Winter Garden during Black History Month.
Robeson performed regularly in the Floral Room at the Winter Garden from the late 1920s until 1939, drawing large audiences during his visits to Eastbourne.
The event will celebrate his connection with the town and include the formal unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
Robeson was internationally known as a bass-baritone singer and actor, as well as for his campaigning for civil rights and social justice.
Doors are due to open at 3:00pm, with the commemoration beginning at approximately 3:30pm.
