Staplecross lights up for a traditional Sussex Bonfire celebration, with more than 100 flaming torches, a village procession, giant bonfire and fireworks creating one of the most atmospheric nights in the local calendar.

Ewhurst & Staplecross Bonfire Society brings its annual celebration back to the village with a junior procession, main torchlit procession, giant bonfire and fireworks.

The junior procession begins at 6.45pm, followed by the main torchlit procession from around 7pm to 7.15pm. The route starts from Northiam Road in Staplecross, travels towards Cripps Corner and then returns through the village before heading to the bonfire field.

The giant bonfire is expected to be lit between 8.45pm and 9pm, with the firework display following afterwards.

More than 100 flaming torches are expected to feature in the procession, with food stalls available during the evening. Free parking is available next to The Cross Inn, although spaces are limited and visitors are advised to arrive before 6pm.

The road through Staplecross will be closed from 6.30pm until 10pm, with no parking permitted on the closed section.
