Eastbourne’s seafront comes alive with torchlit processions, marching bands, a giant bonfire and fireworks as Eastbourne Bonfire Society celebrates 25 years of keeping Sussex Bonfire tradition burning in the town.

Eastbourne Bonfire Society brings its annual celebration back to the seafront with a colourful torchlit procession involving visiting Sussex bonfire societies and marching bands.

The first procession leaves the Crown & Anchor on Royal Parade at 7.15pm, travelling east towards Treasure Island before returning along the seafront. A later procession continues west towards the Wish Tower area before moving onto the beach for the bonfire and fireworks.

The bonfire is expected to be lit at around 9.30pm, with the fireworks display following shortly afterwards.

This is a particularly significant year for Eastbourne Bonfire Society as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. The volunteer-run society stages the event as one of its major community celebrations and uses its activities to support local charities.

Visitors should expect a busy seafront and allow extra time for travel, parking and any temporary restrictions around the procession route. The event is free to attend
