The Friends of Eastbourne Hospital run a series of dining events throughout the year as part of their ‘Dine Around the World’ fundraising programme. Over the years, this has taken members and guests to tables at local restaurants specialising in Thai, Indian, Italian and Turkish cuisines, amongst many others.
The first of such evenings in 2024 will comprise a British menu, hosted at Eastbourne Borough Football Club on Priory Lane. The chefs there will prepare a main course of Roast Beef, accompanied by Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables, followed by a dessert of Apple Crumble with custard or ice cream. A vegetarian/vegan option of roasted vegetable tart, plus a dessert of fresh fruit salad is also available. Furthermore, for those who prefer a savoury finish to sweet, either dessert can be switched for cheese and biscuits.
All funds raised at events such as these go towards requests from the staff and departments of Eastbourne DGH for equipment and supplies which are not provided by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This year, the Friends have a major project of raising £500k for the purchase of a gamma camera to be used in the nuclear medicine department within radiology, for better detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancers.
Open to everyone, the evening will take place on April 24th, from 7pm, and costs £20 per person, to include tea and coffee following the meal.
