Buxted welcomes the Sussex Bonfire tradition back to the village with a torchlit procession, bonfire and fireworks organised by Buxted Bonfire Society.
The society was re-established in 2017 and, after more than 40 years without its own celebration, brought Bonfire Night back to Buxted in 2024. The event brings together the local community and visiting bonfire societies for an evening rooted in one of Sussex’s best-known traditions.
The procession is expected to make its way through the village before the bonfire and fireworks later in the evening. Buxted Bonfire Society raises the money needed to stage its celebrations through fundraising and support from local businesses, with collections also helping good causes in the local community.
Visitors are encouraged to use public transport where possible and should expect road closures and restrictions around the procession route.
