Supporting the community life of Pevensey and Pevensey Bay, Pevensey Parish Council is the first tier of local government for this parish in Wealden District, East Sussex. It represents local residents and has statutory powers to provide and maintain a number of community facilities and services at parish level.

What it is responsible for

The parish council has statutory duties and powers and delivers a range of local services, including:
• Allotments and community spaces
• Management of public open spaces and recreational areas
• Dog and litter bins
• Community facilities and buildings such as halls and shelters
• Local events, grant support and neighbourhood projects

It also owns and maintains certain parish land and assets on behalf of the community.

How it works

Comprising up to 13 elected or co-opted councillors, the council meets regularly to decide on local priorities, budgets and initiatives for the parish. It employs a part-time clerk who handles administrative and financial matters. Meetings are generally open to the public and held monthly at local venues in Pevensey Bay.
