Eastbourne Youth Radio – Giving young voices a platform

Now in its 25th year, Eastbourne Youth Radio (EYR) is one of the town’s most exciting and inspiring education projects. Broadcasting live on 87.7FM and online from East Sussex College, this four-day event (18–21 November 2025) gives local students the chance to take to the airwaves and share their voices with the community.

EYR features pupils from primary and secondary schools, and colleges, to create more than 65 hours of original content — including interviews, news features, music shows, and discussions on topics that matter to young people today.

It’s a rare opportunity for students to experience real-world broadcasting, working in teams to plan, produce, and present professional quality programmes.

For teachers, it’s a fantastic way to enrich learning and link classroom subjects to practical skills such as communication, teamwork, and media literacy.

For parents, it’s a unique opportunity to see young people’s confidence develop as they step behind the microphone, learning how to collaborate, lead, and think creatively.

Supported by over 40 local businesses and community organisations, Eastbourne Youth Radio also helps students connect with their wider community.

Eastbourne Youth Radio will be on air from 10am on Tuesday 18th November, and will be broadcasting 24 hours until 3pm on Friday 21st November.

Tune in on 87.7 FM  or online: www.eyr.org.uk
