We received a press release from Dover District Council - here's what it says:
Dover District Council is warning householders to beware of scam callers following information that a resident received a bogus call about their Council Tax account.
The Council has been informed that someone claiming to be from the Local Authority called a resident, stating that their Council Tax band had been reassessed, and saying they were entitled to a refund going back to 1990. The bogus caller said they needed the householder’s bank details for the refund to be released. Dover District Council stresses that this is not the Council contacting customers.
DDC has notified the Police, and local Neighbourhood Watch schemes and KCC Trading Standards have been informed. For more information, or if you have any concerns, please contact DDC on (01304) 872199
