Sandwich residents have a chance to be consulted and ask questions about the impact of the Open Golf Championship 2011 which comes to Royal St George's golf club this July. DDC will be holding a neighbourhoold forum on this topic and here is their press release about it:

Local residents are invited to come along to find out more about The Open Golf Championship and have their say at the next Sandwich Area Neighbourhood Forum meeting on Tuesday 1 February 2011 at The Guildhall, Sandwich from 7pm.

The meeting will be discussing The Open, which is returning to Sandwich from 10-17 July. Partners are working hard to make sure everything is in place for the event, and this is your chance to find out more about how the event and traffic will be managed, and about the economic benefits to the area.

The Open is set to bring around 200,000 visitors and a major multi million pound boost to Sandwich and the surrounding area. The economic impact of The Open in 2003 to East Kent was valued at £17.6m. Members of the Sandwich Open Golf Project Executive will be at the Neighbourhood Forum to discuss the preparations and answer any questions you may have.

Doors open at 6pm, with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet your local Councillors and view the exhibition displays.  There will be opportunities for questions throughout the course of the meeting.

All suggestions are welcomed from local people about what they would like to discuss at future meetings. For further information please contact KCC Community Engagement Manager Anne Charman on 01622 696389.
